Rockside Academy

During our Sports Day, several performances truly stood out and set the tone for an exciting event.

The Scouts impressed everyone with their smart marching, followed by our colorful school band, joined by the St. John’s Ambulance team, as they led us in singing both the national anthem and the school anthem.

Our Grade 1, 2, and 3 curtain raisers then delivered a stellar musical dance, paving the way for beautiful performances from the ballet team and the Dance and Fitness Club.

Together, these performances brought energy, a strong sports vibe, rhythm, and confidence, lighting up the field even before the main activities began.

We are now gearing up for the Upper Primary and Junior School Sports Day on Saturday, 13th June, and you are most warmly welcome to join us again.

What an electrifying Sports Day it has been!

Our preschool and lower primary champions turned the field into a theatre of dreams, pouring every ounce of energy and heart into representing their houses. This wasn’t just a display of hard work; it was a masterclass in pure dedication and a spectacular showcase of what teamwork truly looks like. From the first whistle to the finish line, the spirit of sportsmanship was palpable, and we are still buzzing from the sheer entertainment you provided. You didn’t just compete; you inspired us all with your grit and your smiles!

To our wonderful parents, you are the best! You truly showed up and showed out, bringing your absolute A-game to the stands and the tracks. Whether you were cheering on the sidelines or stepping up to participate in your own activities, your support was the "secret sauce" that made today unforgettable. You showed our young champions what true support looks like and we couldn’t ask for more.

A massive and roaring congratulations to House Green🟢 Mount Kenya for scaling the heights and emerging as the overall winners of today’s Sports Day! Your performance, both on and off the field, was nothing short of legendary. To House Red 🔴Mount Kilimanjaro, a huge shout-out for being such formidable opponents and securing a hard-fought second place. Your tenacity kept everyone on their toes!

We also celebrate House Blue🔵 Mount Ruwenzori and House Yellow 🟡 Mount Everest for your brilliant efforts in taking third and fourth place respectively. Remember, every champion has a journey; we live to fight another day, and we have no doubt you’ll return even stronger, faster, and readier than ever next time!

Today was a vibrant and enriching day as our Grade 9 learners participated in an engaging cultural presentation and dialogue session. The learners actively explored the richness of our diverse African culture, diving deep into topics that connect our past, present, and future.

Throughout the session, learners examined different cultures and traditions, including traditional roles in society, cultural demonstrations such as music, dance, traditional attire, customary practices, and the intersection of identity and modern life.
They reflected thoughtfully on the importance of respect, shared values, and community in strengthening social bonds. A key focus was understanding our culture then, now, and tomorrow.

We also discussed valuable traditions worth preserving, such as respect for elders, communal support systems, moral integrity, and cultural expressions that define who we are. They also explored how culture continues to shape personal and collective identity in today’s dynamic world, while considering positive adaptations that allow us to thrive in a modern, globalized society.

Learners left with a stronger appreciation for cultural diversity, a renewed sense of pride in their roots, and greater awareness of their role as custodians of culture for future generations.

Events like these play a vital role in building well-rounded, culturally aware young people who are grounded in their values yet open to the world. We are incredibly proud of our Grade 9 learners for their enthusiastic participation and thoughtful contributions. Let’s continue nurturing these important conversations at home and in our community.
