Celebrating the Life of Mwema Gichinga🌹

Dear fellow Alumni,

It is with heavy yet peaceful hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Mwema Gichinga, Mwema Gichinga class of 1995, who took his final rest this morning, 2nd December. He was a very active member of this Alumni Association!

His courage throughout his 5 year medical journey has been beyond compare, teaching us invaluable lessons about faith, resilience, and unwavering trust in God.

We feel the deep sorrow of his absence while we also find comfort in knowing that he is now resting in the safe arms of his loving Savior, Jesus Christ.

Heaven has gained one of its strongest generals, and his legacy of strength and faith will continue to inspire us.

As we remember Mwema, let us hold onto the hope of God’s promises. We take solace in the words of 2 Timothy 4:7-8:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

Please keep Mwema’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Mwema remained sharp and organized in his thoughts to the very end, and he shared specific wishes for his final journey. As the family and organizing committee, we are committed to honouring those wishes to the best of our ability.

We will also have live-streaming of the funeral service and the link will be provided.

3️⃣ Tributes
We will provide a digital platform for submitting tributes to Mwema. These will be preserved as a lasting testament to his life and legacy. They will serve as a special keepsake for the entire community and for Mwema’s family, particularly his 3 children, who will cherish these memories in the years to come. You are welcome to prepare your tributes and share any photos in advance.

4️⃣ Support
As many of you know, Mwema endured a long illness over the past five years and was hospitalized for the last four months since August 3rd. The medical expenses have been immense. We extend our heartfelt thoughts to the Wanjau family as we share the somber news of the passing of the Very Reverend Dr. George E. Wanjau.

He served with distinction as the Moderator of both the 11th and 12th General Assemblies and took his final rest earlier today at Karen Hospital.

Dr. Wanjau was a founding member of the Muteero-Muhugu Community and PCEA Muteero Church, where he actively supported numerous community, church, and national initiatives. His roles as a dear friend, church father, and moderator of PCEA St. Andrew's Parish have left an indelible mark.

Our thoughts are with the Wanjau family, particularly Mrs. Wanjau, our respected former headmistress, during this difficult time.

Let us unite in offering them our prayers and support at this time. 🙏🥲💔

Additional information will be provided in due course.

May the Lord of All Comfort bring solace to the Wanjau family now and forevermore.

Peace and blessings.

Mwema Gichinga Medical Fund | M-Changa 18/04/2021

Mwema Gichinga class of 95 was readmitted to HDU at Karen hospital on 5th April 2021 with oxygen levels as low as 55%. He has recovered well over the period and his breathing systems are now not a worry for the team of doctors. He may be discharged soon and we give God all the glory for that!
The bill is currently about Ksh 2 million, with a portion already paid. We would like to target raising Kshs 3 million to cover the pending bill at Karen Hospital, long term physiotherapy bills to restore his mobility and after-effects of the stroke, and surgery to restore his sight.

Mwema’s spirits are high and we trust in the Lord for his fast and complete healing!

Your prayers and intercession are highly appreciated.
