1️⃣ What “bridging” really means (KCSE – Kenya)

Bridging means you re-sit specific KCSE subjects (usually Biology, Chemistry, Maths, or English) as a private candidate through Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) in order to improve the grades required for a course, such as medical-related programs.

👉 You do not redo the whole KCSE.
👉 You only register for the subjects you want to improve.

2️⃣ How your results will appear on the KCSE result slip
This is the most important part 👇

✔️ After bridging:
KNEC issues a new KCSE result slip for the year you re-sit.
The slip will show ONLY the subjects you sat for that year.
Each subject will have:
Subject name
Grade attained (e.g. Biology – C+, Chemistry – C)

❌ What will NOT happen:
Your previous KCSE slip is NOT replaced
Grades are NOT merged automatically into one slip
Your mean grade remains the same.

✅ How colleges assess you:
Medical training institutions will:
Look at your original KCSE certificate
Look at your bridging results
Combine the best grades per subject to check eligibility
So effectively:
They “pick” the improved subjects and ignore the old weak ones.
