Every year, the Starehe Girls’ Centre Charity Walk brings together students, alumni, parents, teachers, partners, friends, and supporters from all walks of life to walk for a shared cause: educating and empowering bright girls from underprivileged backgrounds.

More than just a walk, the annual SGC Charity Walk is a day of community, impact, mentorship, and hope. Through the support raised, the school is able to continue providing opportunities that go beyond academics, including holistic learning, leadership development, mentorship, nutrition, sustainability programs, and practical life skills that help shape confident and empowered young women.

At Starehe Girls’ Centre (SGC), education goes hand in hand with health, sustainability, and practical life skills. Through the school’s farms and Green & clean culture, students have access to healthy, fresh produce that supports their nutrition, wellbeing, and academic performance. Beyond the classroom, girls also gain hands-on agricultural knowledge by participating in planting, maintaining, and learning about the farms under the guidance of professionals, especially students who take up Agriculture as a subject. For many girls, this becomes an opportunity to develop useful skills in agriculture, environmental stewardship, sustainability, teamwork, and responsibility -- lessons that continue to benefit them far beyond school life.

🇫🇷 A Memorable Visit to Starehe Girls’ Centre:

On Monday, we were honoured to welcome His Excellency Mr. Arnaud Suquet, the French Ambassador to Kenya, and his team to Starehe Girls’ Centre.

Our partnership with the French Embassy in Nairobi spans nearly a decade and holds special significance, as French was the first international language introduced at the Centre in 2005.

During the visit, the Ambassador engaged warmly with our students, particularly those studying French , holding conversations in the language and thoughtfully responding to their questions. The delegation, including teams from Campus France and Sciences Po, also shared valuable insights on higher education opportunities in France.

The visit included a tour of the Centre with our Trustees and Director, making it a truly enriching and memorable experience for our community.

The Ambassador was received by the Director, Sr. Jane Soita, members of the Board of Trustees and Board of Management, as well as alumnae representative Vivian Onano, and toured the Centre.

We look forward to continued collaboration and to welcoming His Excellency again in the near future.
