An inter-house debate competition was organised for the students of classes XI and XII on 8th June 2026, Monday in the school auditorium. 16 participants from 4 houses participated and debated on the topic โYouth today are more informed, but less focusedโ. There were 4 participants from each house, divided into 2 teams โ two of whom spoke in favour of the motion and two of whom opposed it.Once each participants presented their argument, there was a rebuttal session where the participants were free to question their opponent based on the argument presented. The rebuttal session proved interesting and time limit was the only constraint.
Mrs. Gayathri Devi and Mrs. Mary Rozario were the judges for the competition and they judged the participants based on the participantsโ organization and clarity, use of argument, use of cross-examination and rebuttal and their presentation style. Mrs. Anupama Nath kept a track of the time to maintain the time limit for each participant. Bryanna and Slania from Class XI entertained the audience with a song as the judges finalised on the participantsโ score.
Sara Ibrahim of XII-A won first place in this engaging and challenging competition. Ayaan Fahim of XI-A secured the second position and Maria Tobin of XII-A took the third place. Sapphire house gained the maximum number of points emerging as the overall winner. Ruby house and Topaz house gained second and third position respectively.
It was absolutely an interesting session where the participants came prepared and the competition also showcased the participants being honest in expressing their view. They presented a very challenging argument not just for the opponents alone; but left a thought-provoking thread for the audience as well. The highlight of the event was the participantsโ attitude in cheering for their friends in spite of having an opposing view, which truly reflected the healthy spirit of competition.
