SLIIT was honoured to welcome Prof. Rebecca Walker, Newly Appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Colombo, to the SLIIT Malabe Campus on the 17th of June 2026. During the visit, Prof. Walker met with the Chancellor - SLIIT, Vice-Chancellor- SLIIT and the members of SLIIT senior leadership and academic faculties.
The meeting focused on the current collaborations between SLIIT and Curtin University, new developments to further strengthen the partnership, research opportunities, and potential areas for future academic collaboration. The visit also included a guided tour of the SLIIT Malabe Campus, providing an opportunity to showcase SLIIT’s academic facilities, vibrant learning environment and commitment to delivering globally recognised higher education.
SLIIT looks forward to further strengthening its 25 years of relationship with Curtin University and creating meaningful academic, research and international learning opportunities for students and faculty.

SLIIT International facilitated two exclusive industry visits for students following the University of Queensland pathway to the Colombo Stock Exchange and Port City Colombo.
At the Colombo Stock Exchange, Mr. Pasindu Wijemanna, Executive – CSE Education Academy, provided valuable insights into opening an investment account at the CSE and the potential benefits of well-informed investments in the stock market.
At Port City Colombo, Mr. Thasim Rafi, Head of Investment Promotion – Middle East, delivered a comprehensive overview of the Port City project and the many exciting opportunities it will bring in the future.
We sincerely thank our partners for their collaboration and support. We look forward to building on this experience and providing more industry engagement opportunities for our students.

Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice-Chancellor & CEO of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, held a forward-looking engagement with Dr.Sheila Embleton, Interim President of Algoma University, and Dr.Brett Goodwin, Interim Vice President – Academic & Research, in Brampton, Ontario, to strengthen academic partnerships and explore new pathways for global collaboration.
The discussions centered on expanding undergraduate and postgraduate pathway opportunities, joint recruitment initiatives, and potential research collaborations in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, sustainable energy, and health informatics. Innovative approaches including micro-credentials and executive education to address evolving industry needs were also explored.
The visit concluded with a campus tour and a token of appreciation, marking another meaningful step in advancing international academic cooperation between the two institutions.
