Somewhere along the way, we started believing that fitness had to leave us exhausted to be effective.

I see it differently.

Train to stay strong. Train to move well. Train to keep doing the things you love for years to come.

Because one day, what your body can do will matter far more than the number on the scale.

I've realised that the reason most people start exercising isn't the reason they keep going.
At first, it's often about weight loss.

But over time, it becomes about having the energy to do more, staying independent, feeling stronger, and moving through life with confidence.

We don't need to train to feel exhausted (well maybe a little 😀)
We need to train to stay capable.

Build muscle. Move well.
Invest in the future version of yourself.

You don't need fancy equipment to stay strong. After 40, the goal isn't just to burn calories—it's to maintain muscle, mobility, balance, and bone health.

This simple full-body workout targets:
- Legs and glutes
- Core stability
- Upper-body strength
- Balance and coordination
- Cardiovascular fitness

Complete 3–5 rounds, rest as needed, and add a 15–30 minute brisk walk before or after.
Consistency beats perfection every time.

Strength training after 35 isn't optional — it's your insurance policy for the future.

As oestrogen declines during perimenopause and menopause, muscle loss speeds up, bone density drops, and metabolism slows.

Women can lose up to 20% of their bone density in the first 5–7 years after menopause.

We also lose 3–8% of muscle mass per decade from age 30.

Strength training helps protect your bones, preserve muscle, boost metabolism, and keep you strong for everyday life.

This isn't about how you look.

It's about carrying your shopping bags, climbing stairs with ease, travelling, and staying independent for decades to come.

✨ Aim for 2–3 strength sessions per week.

Train for the woman you'll be at 80.

Strength training after 35 isn't optional — it's your investment in future independence.

During perimenopause and menopause, falling oestrogen levels don't just affect your mood, sleep, or energy levels. They also accelerate changes in your muscles, bones, and metabolism.

Women can lose up to 20% of their bone density in the 5–7 years after menopause.

From age 30, adults lose around 3–8% of muscle mass per decade, with the rate increasing during menopause.

Less muscle means a slower metabolism, reduced insulin sensitivity, and decreased strength for everyday tasks.

Strength training improves balance, coordination, and mobility — reducing the risk of falls and helping you stay independent as you age.

It's about being strong enough to carry your shopping bags, climb stairs with ease, travel, play with your grandchildren, and continue doing the things you love for decades to come.

Aim for 2–3 strength sessions each week. It doesn't matter where you start — what matters is that you start.

To all students... and the parents supporting them.

When stress goes up, movement is often the first thing to disappear but even 20 minutes of walking, running, cycling or strength training can boost energy, improve focus and reduce fatigue.

So between revision sessions, take a break and move.
Your brain will thank you for it. 💙

Good luck to everyone sitting exams!
