Congratulations to His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on his election as the President of the Republic of Malawi.

The Fund recently hosted a validation workshop for the Foresight Brief, developed in collaboration with key stakeholders.

The workshop created a platform for participants to collectively review and strengthen the document, which is based on the foresight study of Malawi’s innovation and investment ecosystem.

This inclusive process ensures the brief captures diverse perspectives and lays a solid foundation for shaping future innovation investments in Malawi.

Third Meeting of the ITU Acceleration Centres and Global I-CoDI Workshop on Policy Experimentation

The UAE's Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) hosted the five-day policy experimentation workshop as part of their Partner2Connect pledge supporting the ITU-TDRA International Center of Digital Innovation (I-CoDI).

As one of the ITU National Acceleration Centres, Muuni Fund participated in this intensive program that ran from the 18th to the 22nd of August, engaging in comprehensive training guided by the Alliance's Policy Experimentation Playbook:

Regulatory benchmarking
Living labs & regulatory sandboxes design
Priority area implementation

The program aimed to strengthen centre participants' capacity to foster innovation-friendly regulatory environments and advance digital economic growth across Member States.

The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority, through the Muuni Fund is developing a Regulatory Sandbox Framework, a controlled space where innovators can safely test cutting-edge solutions like IoT, AI, big data analytics, and OTT services.

This framework will help bold ideas break through regulatory barriers, guide smart policies, and spark open collaboration, driving economic growth and improving lives.

Once launched, it will be open to businesses ready to experiment, prove their innovations, and protect consumers while shaping the future of tech in Malawi.
