Thank you to everyone who joined our Youth Mental Health Webinar tonight. It was truly an impactful session.

We had meaningful conversations on mental health, emotional resilience, hope, and the importance of speaking up and seeking support.

A special thank you to Moses Kittah for the insightful presentation, and to every participant who made time to be part of this life-changing discussion.

Together, we are raising a generation that knows they matter, they are valued, and they are never alone.

"MENTAL HEALTH BREAKFAST"

Sometimes the hardest step is finding the courage to speak, but honest conversations have the power to mend hearts, restore peace, and heal the wounds that silence tries to hide.

Reaching out for help is important because no one is meant to carry pain alone. Speaking to someone you trust can bring comfort, clarity, strength, and the support needed to heal.

What Professor Chiwoza Bandawe has shared.

This is a courageous reflection. Indeed, su***de is not simply a personal weakness: it is often the painful outcome of silent battles, untreated mental health conditions, stigma, and hopelessness.

Malawi urgently needs safe spaces, compassionate listening, mental health education, and accessible psychosocial support systems if we are to truly defeat this “dragon of su***de.”

"MENTAL HEALTH BREAKFAST"

Openly discussing mental health issues in society helps to break down stigma surrounding mental illness while also reminding us that help is available and we're not struggling alone.

Talking about mental health can encourage those having thoughts of su***de or dealing with severe mental illness to reach out to others for help.

Always be able to speak up to someone you trust.

How about we do this?

03/05/2026

I successfully hosted an Online Mental Health Summit under the theme “Mental Health in the Times of the New Normal.” The summit attracted a good number of young people, with many youths actively attending and engaging in the session. The summit created an important platform for discussing the mental health challenges faced by young people in today’s rapidly changing world.

The discussions focused on how the new normal: marked by economic uncertainty, digital pressures, and shifting social realities; has affected emotional wellbeing among youths.

Practical strategies for resilience, self-care, and seeking support were shared, helping participants better understand how to protect their mental health during challenging times.

It reinforced the need for continued mental health awareness and support initiatives targeting young people as they navigate the demands of modern life.
