During the luncheon, NICO Group Malawi donated MK100 million to LUANAR towards the rehabilitation of facilities at the institution in preparation for the 2022 African Union 5 Regional Youth Games this coming December. The VC commended NICO Group Malawi for such a generous donation and looks forward to more engagements and collaborations with them.

NICO Holdings Managing Director, Mr. Vizenge Kumwenda expressed interest in working with LUANAR and assured the institution of their continued support. Later on, the Managing Director presented the MK100 Million cheque to LUANAR.

Yesterday LUANAR was celebrating one year of Prof. Emmanuel Kaunda in the office of Vice-Chancellor through a Luncheon organized at Bunda college campus. NICO group Malawi officials attended the function and the Chairman of Council, Prof. Zachary Kasomekera was the guest of honour.

Among other things, the LUANAR Vice-Chancellor commended the Council, Management, staff, and partners for supporting the LUANAR vision. The VC also presented the Value in Action Awards (VAA) to three nominees. VAAs are given to staff who have championed the LUANAR's core value of the month.

LUANAR is hosting this year's CUCSA games. Malawi, Angola, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe are participating in this year's CUCSA games. The games were officially opened by the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Richard Chimwendo Banda, MP on 29th August 2022.

LUANAR through its University Teaching and Learning Sub-Committee of Senate, which is responsible for policies and guidelines related to capacity building of staff for effective delivery of teaching and learning, has organised a training on teaching, learning and assessment for new and part-time lecturers at the University.

The workshop is designed to give new and part-time lecturers at LUANAR the skills they need to properly deliver course material. According to LUANAR’s Director of Quality Assurance, Dr Tasokwa Chibowa, the training is crucial in order for the new lecturers to be well-equipped to offer lectures and fulfil the objectives and mission of the University.

The training which has started today at Bunda College Campus, is expected to finish on Friday 26th August, 2022.

The Director of Student Affairs and LUANAR faculty members are currently conducting orientation sessions for newly selected Students for the Open, Distance, and e-Learning 2022-2023 academic year at Bunda College Campus. The purpose of the orientation program is to acquaint new students with campus activities, academic offerings, and infrastructure, among other things. The orientation sessions that began today, 22nd August 2022 will end tomorrow.

The LUANAR Vice-Chancellor attended a panel discussion at the launch of the Parliamentary Caucus on Population and Sustainable Development of Malawi held at BICC. He mentioned that the Caucus needs to think about assisting Malawi-led research and innovations in Malawian Universities.
