In an effort to broaden access to the e-resources available on the MALICO/MyLoft platform for research, teaching, and learning, the Librarian from DMI Lilongwe Campus conducted a library staff training session in Mangochi on 1st June 2026.
Librarians from DMI Mangochi and Blantyre campuses were equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to train students and staff at their respective campuses. The training covered the creation of user accounts, management of user categories, database navigation, and various information search techniques.
This initiative reflects DMI's continued commitment to enhancing access to quality academic resources and strengthening research capacity across its campuses.

EXAMINATION ORIENTATION FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
On 8th June 2026, the Office of the Dean of Students conducted an Examination Orientation for all first-year students across various academic programmes.
The orientation formed part of the University's commitment to promoting academic excellence, integrity, and professionalism by equipping students with a clear understanding of examination regulations and expectations. The initiative was also aimed at reducing cases of examination malpractice and misconduct.
During the session, students were given an opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on examination procedures, enabling them to gain deeper insight and confidence as they prepare for their assessments.
The students expressed their appreciation for the informative session and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the examination rules, demonstrating honesty, responsibility, and integrity throughout their academic journey.

The 2026 Chancellor's Trophy ๐
On 6th June 2026, DMIโSt. John the Baptist University hosted the exciting Chancellor's Trophy in Mangochi, bringing together students from the Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Mangochi campuses in a spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
The tournament featured a variety of sporting disciplines, including Football, Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, and Chess.
The Lilongwe Campus delivered an impressive performance throughout the competition, securing second place in Football, Netball, and Volleyball, finishing just behind the host campus, Mangochi.
Lilongwe also celebrated outstanding individual achievements by claiming first place in Ladies' Chess, Men's 400 metres, and Shot Put.
These remarkable accomplishments reflect the dedication, discipline, and talent of our students. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants for representing the Lilongwe Campus with pride, determination, and excellence.

The Social Work Department recently organized a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Talk for female students and lecturers in commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day. The initiative aimed to promote awareness, education, and open dialogue on menstrual health and hygiene among women and girls.
The session was facilitated by Nurse Hilda Kamera, who delivered insightful and practical guidance on menstrual hygiene management, personal care during menstruation, and the importance of maintaining good reproductive health. She also addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation, encouraging participants to seek accurate information and professional support when needed.
The interactive nature of the session created a safe and supportive space for participants to ask questions and share experiences. Overall, the talk reinforced the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation and empowering women and girls to manage their menstrual health with confidence and dignity.

The festival, organized by ๐ฆ๐ธ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, brought together students from 13 universities for an unforgettable weekend filled with entertainment, networking, and cultural exchange. The excitement began with a thrilling Open Air experience on Friday, 8th May, before reaching its climax on Saturday night through electrifying performances from some of Malawiโs top music stars including ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐, ๐๐ป๐ด๐ผ๐๐ผ, ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐, ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐น๐ฏ๐ฎ, and many more.
Beyond the music and performances, the festival created a meaningful platform for students to build friendships, share experiences, and strengthen inter-university relationships. DMI students proudly represented the university with energy, discipline, and togetherness while embracing the beauty of diversity and youth collaboration.

Today, 29 April 2026, DMI St. John the Baptist University โ Lilongwe Campus successfully hosted young leaders from the Malawi Girl Guides Association, who conducted an orientation session for female students.
The session focused on key issues affecting young women, including education, employment opportunities, leadership, and voluntary membership within the association. Students were encouraged to embrace opportunities that promote personal growth, confidence, and active community participation.
The Assistant YESS Coordinator, Ms. Chifuniro Mkandawire, encouraged the students to actively join the association, highlighting the many opportunities available for both personal and professional development.
The visiting delegation comprised five YESS Girls from Zimbabwe, Ghana, Zambia, Rwanda, Madagascar, and Malawi, reflecting a strong spirit of international collaboration and shared commitment to empowering young women.
DMI Lilongwe Campus Gender Coordinator, Ms. Alice Tembo, expressed sincere appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of properly guiding and orienting students so they can make informed and meaningful life choices during their academic journey.
