Education Authorities in the north say the high demand for education in the country which is fueled by rapid population growth is exerting pressure on resources in the sector.
Mathews Kapira, the principal inspector of schools in the Northern Education Division (NED) region, made the remarks on Sunday when Mzimba Secondary School Alumni donated 109 mattresses to the school valued at K5 million.
Kapira commended the Alumni for the support and appealed to other individuals or organizations to emulate the gesture and compliment governments efforts in doing away with challenges that affect most learning institutions.
Head teacher for Mzimba secondary school, Dickens Morton Nyirongo said the school which was opened in 1965 has dilapidated hostels, laboratories and students sleep on worn out mattresses hence the importance of the support from the alumni can not be overemphasized.
President of Mzimba secondary school alumni, Hopestone Chavura said they were compelled to support their former school after noting that the institution was facing a lot of challenges including poor state of beddings.

2022 MSCE RESULTS OUT
The Malawi National Examinations Board MANEB has released 2022 Malawi Schools Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results.
This year's pass-rate has moved up to 58.44% from last year’s 52.20%.
Making the announcement Minister of Education Agnes Nyalonje points out that MSCE exams act as a distinct tool to measure policies put in place to improve quality education in schools.

A donkey was tied to a tree. A demon came and released it. The donkey entered the field of a farmer and began to eat everything. The farmer’s wife saw the donkey and was afraid that it would destroy the farm, took the rifle and killed it.
The donkey’s owner saw the dead donkey, got angry and also took his rifle and fired at the woman, killing her. When the farmer got home and saw that his wife was dead, he killed the donkey's owner.
The donkey owner's sons seeing their dead father, burned the farmer's field. The farmer in retaliation killed them.
When they asked the demon what he had done, he said:
- "I did nothing, I just released the donkey."
Do you get it? The devil doesn’t have power to do much, but one simple thing he does triggers the evil intents of men’s hearts to harm one another.
So, let's think before reacting .Be careful with your actions because many at times, the only thing the devil does is “release the donkey”.
So don't be fooled into getting angry at innocent people, do the simple thing with love .
"Just tie back the donkey" and the devil is disarmed.
At whatever situation, if someone releases the donkey, just tie it back.

Two Malawi School Certificate of Examination candidates from the open distance learning School at Mzimba secondary school have been arrested for allegedly sharing this year's practical examination instructions papers on WhatsApp.
Mzimba police spokesperson Peter Botha confirmed the development Friday and identified the two as Dominic Ngala and Vincent Sakala, both aged 19.
Botha said the two, were arrested following a tip from the Principal Examination development officer at MANEB Mr Emmanuel Chafutwa that some students at Mzimba Open Secondary School were alleged to be sharing this year's MANEB Practical Confidential Instruction paper through WhatsApp groups.
It is alleged that through the groups formed by the two, the candidates had shared confidential instructions for agriculture, biology and chemistry practical papers.
Over 150,000 students are sitting for this years Malaŵi School Leaving Certificate of Examinations at various centers in the country.
