Congratulations Vision

: Vision Thondoya is a second top winner in the Top 20 Finalists in MACRA’s 2026 National ICT Innovation Awards for his app "Milab" .

This is a virtual laboratory app that helps secondary school students run science experiments virtually.

The application uses interactive simulations so that students can learn hands-on even when their schools do not have lab equipments hence making science subjects more accessible and engaging.

Meet Mzuzu University's most impactful researcher, Dr Atipatsa Kaminga.

With over 5000 citations, an h-index of 39 and an i10 index of 64, Dr Kaminga has had the most impact, to date, among Mzuni's researchers. This was revealed in the recent Mzuzu University Directory of Research and Publications (Vol.5).

The h-index is a measure that reflects both the quantity and impact of a researcher's work. An h-index of 39 means that Dr Kaminga has at least 39 publications with 39 citations each. On the other hand, the i10 index is a Google Scholar measure of the number of publications with at least 10 citations.

Dr Atipatsa Kaminga, an alumnus and pioneer of Mzuzu University, is currently the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He is also a Senior Lecturer in the department. His research interests are in Epidemiology and Biostatistics with a focus on Public Health and Preventive Medicine.

Congratulations Dr Kaminga, aka Ngunga.
