Paper success!
In this one, our former Postdoc , Dr Angel Mora, used two sources of bioinspiration from cacti 🌵 to design meta-structures with tuned response under twist!
Congrats to Dr Angel who’s currently continuing his career at York Uni 🇨🇦

Paper success!
Our Gus Espejo managed to get his first PhD paper accepted, in this he proposed a methodology to increase the displacement range of rotational compliant joints.
This was then validated using FE and experiments on additively manufactured samples !
Kudos to Gus!

Paper success!
As part of our efforts to understand hybrid metamaterials, Dr Mario (with assistance of Andres), managed to design, 3D print and mechanically test cubic lattices with particular inclusion of surfaces.
This resulted in a nice story now accepted in the Rapid Prototyping Journal!

Hoy arrancan 3 estudiantes su estancia como parte del Verano de Investigación del programa Delfín. Estamos muy contentos de recibirl@s y les deseamos una estancia exitosa!

All the best!

Demanding applications push us to seek solutions in many sources, however nature still seems to be the very best when designing.
In this recently published work, led by Dr Farfan Cabrera and his group of tribology experts, we contributed with some additively manufactured Bézier lattice designs. Their viscoelastic behavior was then characterized through compressive creep testing during the erosion process by Dr Farfan Cabrera’s group.

Check out more in the paper just published in Advanced Engineering Materials:

“impactful” news!
Within our efforts to understand how metamaterials respond under different loading scenarios, Dr Amador Chapa (Postdoc) visited UniAndes 🇨🇴 mechanical engineering facilities and subjected flexible cellular structures to impact loading!
You can find out more once our just accepted paper gets published!!
