A canon (often called a "round") is a musical composition technique where an initial melody is introduced, and then imitated by one or more voices or instruments after a short time delay. The overlapping layers create a rich, self-harmonizing sound.

Playing a march rhythm as a duet requires absolute rhythmic synchronization, crisp articulation, and careful physical coordination between both players. Marches are traditionally written in strict 2/4 or 4/4 time, mimicking a steady walking pace (usually around 120 beats per minute).

Playing duets forces you to look at the "big picture" of a piece rather than just your own notes. You gain a stronger understanding of how melodies, harmonies, and basslines interlock, which makes you a more versatile and expressive musician overall.
