Alhamdulillah, Day 1 of the Strategic Planning Workshop CCI 2026 at Royal Chulan Cherating, Pahang has successfully commenced.

The workshop began with discussions on strengthening academic aspirations, aligning institutional goals, and exploring future opportunities in higher education. Participants also engaged in meaningful conversations on enhancing academic portfolios, institutional positioning, and building a future-ready academic ecosystem.

Together, we are charting a clearer direction towards academic excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth for CCI. 💡📚

On 9 June 2026, management representatives from the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), recently engaged with MDEC to strengthen industry–academia collaboration.

This strategic engagement opens new opportunities to further align UNITEN’s computing programmes with the nation’s digital economy agenda, laying a strong foundation towards achieving Premier Digital Tech Institution (PDTI) recognition.

✨ Dean’s Dialogue Session with FDS Departments Successfully Held

On 5 June 2026, the Department of Foundation and Diploma Studies (FDS) successfully conducted the Dean’s Dialogue Session. Led by Ts. Dr. Mohd Hazli bin Mohamed Zabil, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), the session served as a valuable platform for open communication, updates, and meaningful discussions with FDS staff, fostering stronger collaboration and a shared commitment to continuous growth and excellence.

Thank you to all staff members for their participation, valuable insights, and active engagement throughout the session.

Thank you, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Normy Norfiza, for your outstanding service and contributions to REC. Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jaspaljeet Singh on his appointment as Director of REC. Wishing him great success in leading REC to even greater heights.

The Research and Development Committee, UNITEN extends its heartfelt appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Normy Norfiza for her dedicated leadership and service as Director of the Research Excellence Centre (REC) from 1 December 2016 to 31 May 2026.

Throughout her tenure, Dr. Normy has contributed significantly to the strengthening of UNITEN’s research ecosystem, including the advancement of research grants, innovation, postdoctoral development, research talent development, and support for researchers across the university. Her dedication and steady leadership have contributed greatly to REC’s growth and its role in advancing research at UNITEN.

At the same time, we warmly welcome Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jaspaljeet Singh as the new Director of REC, effective 1 June 2026. Having previously served in REC, he returns with valuable experience, institutional understanding, and a continued commitment to supporting research excellence at UNITEN.

As REC moves into this new chapter, we look forward to further strengthening research culture, collaboration, innovation, visibility, and meaningful impact for the university.

🎬 4 June 2026 — Final Year Project 2 Panel Presentation Session for GMVM Students

From 2D & 3D animation, AR/VR, 3D modelling to digital comics, students from the Universiti Tenaga Nasional programmes — BIT (Graphics & Multimedia) (Honours) and BIT (Visual Media) (Honours) — proudly presented their Final Year Projects after months of dedication, creativity, sleepless nights, and continuous refinement.

The session showcased not only technical skills and artistic talent, but also the passion, storytelling, innovation, and problem-solving abilities developed throughout their journey at CCI.

On 4 June 2026, the Final Year Project (FYP) presentation session organized by the Department of Software Engineering, College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), served as an excellent platform for students to showcase the knowledge, skills, and experience they have gained throughout their academic journey.

The session provided students with the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge, technical competencies, and experiences they have developed throughout their studies. It was encouraging to witness the level of effort, creativity, and commitment demonstrated in developing innovative solutions to address real-world challenges through software engineering.

We were honoured to welcome our visiting Industry Expert Panel from Bank Rakyat Berhad, Ts. Kamarul Anuar Abdul Aziz, Senior Vice President, IT Delivery Enablement / Relief Senior Vice President, IT Infrastructure & Service Operations, and Mr. Noorizral Mohamed Noor, Vice President, Core Solutions. Their valuable feedback, industry insights, and practical perspectives provided students with a deeper understanding of current industry expectations and emerging technology trends.

The projects presented reflected not only strong technical capabilities but also essential professional competencies such as critical thinking, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement. These qualities are increasingly important for future software engineers as the industry continues to evolve through advancements in artificial intelligence, automation, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.

Most importantly, initiatives such as this strengthen the connection between academia and industry, ensuring that graduates are better prepared to meet the demands of the professional world while contributing meaningfully to Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda.

We are grateful for the successful completion of the Postgraduate (PG) Research Seminar 2026 #1, which was held for postgraduate students preparing for their Proposal Defense (PD).

The seminar provided an excellent platform for PG students to present their research progress, receive constructive feedback, and enhance their readiness for the upcoming Proposal Defense.

📚 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽

The Proposal Defense Preparation Workshop was successfully held on 3 June 2026, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM via Microsoft Teams.

The workshop aimed to help postgraduate students prepare effectively for their proposal defense by providing guidance on key requirements, presentation expectations, and best practices for a successful defense session.

Participants gained valuable insights from the esteemed panel members through sharing sessions on proposal defense preparation, lessons learned during the proposal defense, and the do’s and don’ts of an effective PD presentation.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all distinguished panel members, postgraduate students, CCI lecturers, and supervisors for their valuable participation and support in making this workshop a meaningful and beneficial session.
