Why Must KPI Be Linked to SOP?

Many KPI projects fail.

Not because KPI is wrong.

But because there is no SOP behind it.

Think about it.

If employees do not know the correct process,

yet they are expected to achieve KPI targets,

is that fair?

If the purchasing team has no standard process,

but is expected to achieve on-time delivery.

If the sales team has no standard follow-up process,

but is expected to increase conversion rates.

If customer service has no standard service procedure,

but is expected to improve customer satisfaction.

What happens next?

Employees start to hate KPI.

Because they feel:

“Management is demanding results without providing a clear method.”

The reality is:

SOP tells employees:

KPI measures:

In simple terms:
