IIUM Partnering to Establish WUNPROQ Consortium for Islamic Social Finance

The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) was honoured to participate in the inauguration of the World University Network for Productive Waqf (WUNPROQ), hosted by IPB University in Bogor, Indonesia, from 4–5 June 2026.

Representing IIUM, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Mohamed Aslam Mohamed Haneef delivered a keynote presentation during the talk show “The Role of Higher Education in Productive Waqf Development.” He highlighted the IIUM Endowment Fund and its “Ecosystem of Impact” model, showcasing how endowment can drive sustainable education, research, and community development.

Joining the delegation, Prof. Dr. Romzie Rosman, Dean of the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), reinforced IIUM’s leadership and expertise in Islamic Social Finance.

The visit also marked a significant step in strengthening international collaboration, with IIUM signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) with IPB University and participating in a community engagement programme through a coffee-tree planting initiative.

Alhamdulillah, this milestone reflects IIUM’s continued commitment to advancing waqf-driven research, education, and meaningful social impact for the benefit of the ummah.

UPC Strengthens Ties With IPTS, Strategic Partners To Boost Academic Publishing

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The University Press Consortium (UPC) is strengthening collaboration with higher education institutions (IPTs), university presses, research organisations, industry players and strategic partners both locally and internationally to elevate Malaysian academic publishing to the global stage.

International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) rector Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Osman Bakar said various initiatives are being implemented to enhance the internationalisation, accessibility and impact of the country's academic publications, enabling the research and academic writings of local scholars to benefit the global community.

IIUM Press Perkukuh Kedudukan Global Melalui Kerjasama Strategik Dan Pelancaran Buku Baharu

KUALA LUMPUR— IIUM Press, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) memperkukuhkan peranannya dalam penerbitan akademik melalui pelancaran 11 judul buku baharu serta pemeteraian kerjasama strategik bersama Majlis Perundingan Melayu (MPM) serta Yayasan Pembangunan Buku Negara (YPBN) melalui platform University Press Consortium (UPC).

Rektor UIAM, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar berkata kerjasama strategik tersebut memberi tumpuan kepada usaha berterusan dalam meningkatkan kualiti penerbitan dan dalam masa yang sama memperluaskan jaringan kolaborasi pada peringkat yang lebih luas.

“Kerjasama ini membolehkan kita bekerjasama dengan lebih erat secara berterusan supaya dapat menghasilkan karya yang lebih berkualiti, dalam masa yang sama memperkukuhkan kedudukan UIAM pada peringkat global," ujarnya ketika ditemu bual selepas Majlis Pelancaran Buku dan Kerjasama Strategik IIUM Press 2026 di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).

Beliau turut berkata inisiatif tersebut juga selari dengan aspirasi UIAM sebagai rakan strategik dalam pembangunan ekosistem penerbitan ilmiah serta menyokong usaha untuk melahirkan karya serta idea yang lebih berkualiti.

Sementara itu, Pengerusi Anugerah Buku Negara 2026-2030, Tan Sri Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Anuwar Ali ketika ditemui telah menyifatkan kerjasama berkenaan sebagai satu langkah strategik dalam memperkasa budaya penulisan ilmiah dalam kalangan ahli akademik universiti awam serta universiti swasta.

Beliau turut berkata inisiatif itu diharap dapat menarik lebih ramai ahli akademik dari pelbagai institusi pendidikan terutamanya dari universiti awam serta swasta untuk terlibat secara aktif dalam penghasilan karya bagi memperkasakan agenda pembangunan ilmu supaya dapat memperkukuhkan ekosistem penerbitan dalam negara.

Majlis berkenaan turut menyaksikan pelancaran 11 buku baharu terbitan IIUM Press serta pertukaran dokumen kerjasama strategik antara IIUM Press, MPM dan YPBN melalui UPC.
