Our heartiest congratulations to our students who have successfully defended their respective theses in the recent viva voce sessions within the period of May until early June 2026.

On 12th of May 2026, sister Tania Zalina binti Zainal Abidin successfully defended her master’s thesis which was completed under the current supervision of Professor Dr. Tatiana Denisova. Her thesis entitled “The Significance of al-Ghazālī’s Conception of Tawakkul in Coping with the Modern Problem of Human Suffering”, was initially guided and supervised under al-marḥūm Assoc. Professor Dr. Wan Suhaimi Wan Abdullah from the beginning until February 2024, the year al-marḥūm return to his Creator. The examiners for the session: Assoc. Professor Dr. Khalif Muammar A. Harris (RZS-CASIS UTM) and Assoc. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Ayman Al-Akiti (UIAM).

A further successful viva (PhD) was also completed later held on 20th of May 2026 for Ustadh Mohd Iqbal bin Parjin with a doctoral thesis entitled “Faham Nūr Muhammad Menurut Shaykh Yusuf al-Maqassari dan Pandangan Para Ulama’ Mengenainya”. The thesis began under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Zainiy Uthman until his retirement on June 2023 together with Dr. Mohd Hilmi Ramli as co-supervisor, and later Dr. Mohd Hilmi Ramli became his main supervisor until the completion of his PhD thesis. The examiners for the session: Assoc. Professor Dr. Khalif Muammar A. Harris (RZS-CASIS UTM) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khairi Mahyuddin (USIM).

And alḥamduli’Llāh, our warmest congratutions also to Ustadh Haerul Anwar who had also successfully defended his PhD thesis in this month, on 3th of June 2026, entitled “Kitab al-Iʿlām Karya Ibn al-Muzayyin (656H/1258M): Kajian Terhadap Kepengarangan, Metodologi dan Kritikan Terhadap Doktrin Agama Kristian”. The thesis was also initially guided under the supervision of al-marḥūm Assoc. Professor Dr. Wan Suhaimi Wan Abdullah for many years until al-marḥūm passed away on February 2024, and later Assoc. Professor Dr. Khalif Muammar became his supervisor. The examiners for the session: Assoc. Professor Dr. Mohd Al’Ikhsan Ghazali (UTM) and Assoc. Professor Dr. Khairul Naim Che Nordin (UM).

These achievements reflect years of dedicated research and scholarly perseverance. The entire RZS-CASIS community extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for continued success in their academic and professional journeys.

Yesterday I hope I had managed to share a few insights I learned from the late Royal Laureate Prof SMN al-Attas concerning the deepening Loss of Adab in self and society. Linked it to the disorder in knowledge and the crisis of personal leadership affecting all societal fields globally. Brought into discussion its metaphysical origins, and historical and contemporary dimensions. Ended with hope as always. In about 25 minutes.

Also enjoyed listening to Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin and other able scholars. Most happy to meet again Syaikh Muhammad Haydara al-Jailani and his colleagues.

Most thankful to Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia and HM's entourage for gracing the event. Menjunjung Kasih Tuanku.

Alhamdulillah!

Insha Allah I will elaborate on these matters in my RZS CASIS Sat Night Lecture at UTM KL 13 June at 9pm.
