ππ Seasonality of the Anthropocene - by Felicia Liu of University of York and Jakob van Klang.
What happens when the seasons we once knew begin to disappear?
When haze returns like clockwork, floods become annual rituals, harvests grow uncertain, and familiar birdsongs fade from our everyday lives.
Seasonality of the Anthropocene brings together artists from Malaysia, the UK, Singapore, and the Philippines to explore how environmental change is reshaping the rhythms, cycles, and memories that define our relationship with the world. Through installation, photography, performance, film, sound, and interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers, the exhibition invites us to reflect on the changing seasons of the Anthropocene - the era in which human activity has become a defining force on the planet.

The British Council and Glasgow International are delighted to be welcoming a delegation of international curators to the city for the opening week of Scotlandβs biennial festival of contemporary art. π¨
The visit is part of the British Council's Visual Arts Biennials Connect programme, which brings together early and mid-career international curators to support their curatorial practice, professional development and opportunities for collaboration.
Delegates will join from Senegal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia, Palestine, Ukraine, Turkey and the Philippines and meet the artists and curators taking part in the festival, alongside wider members of Scotlandβs rich visual arts sector. π€
From Malaysia we are pleased to have Rebecca Yeoh join the delegation - an educator, researcher, and curator working across literature, culture, and visual arts. A PhD candidate in Sociology and Anthropology at Universiti Malaya, her research explores how memory shapes individual and collective identities through literary texts. Her curatorial practice consistently engages with memory, trauma, and alternative histories in Malaysia. She is Programmes Director for Asia West East Centre and has led and co-curated exhibitions supported by CENDANA, the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, and the British Council's Connections Through Culture programme, including Reframe and Resist.
To quote our previous delegates, the Biennials Connect programme is βa chance for curators to connect, share different concerns and familiar experiences. It encourages us to think bigger, to be bold, and to continue doing the work.β β€οΈ
Wishing all our delegates an inspirational trip to Glasgow!
