Fakulti Pendidikan, Bahasa dan Komunikasi (FPBK), UNIMAS mengalu-alukan kedatangan murid-murid dan guru-guru dari SK Tebedu, Serian sempena Lawatan Pendidikan SK Tebedu ke UNIMAS pada 18 Jun 2026 (Khamis).

Lawatan ini memberi peluang kepada para murid untuk mengenali suasana pembelajaran di universiti dengan lebih dekat melalui kunjungan ke FPBK, Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Rahman Ya'kub (PeTARY), UNIMAS serta Muzium Anatomi dan Patologi, Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan (FPSK). Para murid juga berpeluang berinteraksi bersama pelajar FPBK bagi mendapatkan perkongsian pengalaman tentang kehidupan kampus, pembelajaran di universiti dan aspirasi melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi.

Every so often, supervisors find themselves inspired by the students whom they supervise. Nagima Zhumakadyrova is one such individual.

Most students would find one master’s degree challenging enough. Nagima, however, was simultaneously pursuing a master’s degree at UNIMAS in language processing while completing another in International Education Development, a remarkable showcase of her astounding determination and intellectual curiosity.

Reflecting on the experience, her main supervisor, AP Dr Norazuna Norahim, shared, “Supervising such an exceptional individual has been an exciting experience. I merely provided the direction for her research; the rest was driven by her own initiative and determination.”

Nagima passed her viva voce in May 2026, completed all required corrections within a month, and was awarded an A for her thesis. Congratulations to this outstanding achiever!

𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒐𝒘𝒏, 𝒁𝒆𝒄𝒌𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒊, 𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒚 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒕 𝑭𝑬𝑳𝑪.

A PhD journey is deeply personal, shaped by the candidate’s unique experiences and aspirations. For Zeckqualine Melai, the path was marked by both significant challenges and remarkable milestones. Balancing full-time teaching and administration responsibilities alongside major life events, including marriage and pregnancy, she persevered with unwavering determination.

Driven by her passion for the Punan Ba Belaga language, Zeckqualine remained committed to her research throughout her candidature. Her supervisor, AP Dr Norazuna Norahim, remarked that her greatest achievement was not merely completing the doctorate, but developing the level of intellectual maturity, competence, and scholarly excellence befitting a Doctor of Philosophy.

Zeckqualine successfully passed her viva voce in May 2026, marking the culmination of years of dedication and hard work. FELC is immensely proud of her achievement. Well done, Zeckqualine Melai!

𝑭𝑬𝑳𝑪 𝑺𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒕𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕

Wang Cong’s PhD journey was driven by a simple but persistent question: how can language learners better manage the anxiety that often accompanies foreign language listening?

Under the supervision of AP Dr Joseph Ramanair, her research, The Influence of Self-regulated Learning Strategies on Foreign Language Listening Anxiety and Listening Performance among Chinese Tertiary EFL Learners, explored the challenges many learners face when developing listening skills in English.

Motivated by her experiences with students who struggled with listening anxiety, Wang Cong set out to investigate whether self-regulated learning (SRL) strategies could serve as an effective classroom intervention. Her findings revealed that SRL empowers learners to better manage listening-related stress while improving their listening performance and academic outcomes.

Meticulous, determined, and deeply committed to her research, Wang Cong successfully passed her viva voce on 17 April 2026. Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement.

UNIMAS Strengthens Global Education in Borneo Through 4th Global Classroom with Universitas Katolik Santos Agustinus Hippo By: Melisa Malini (Senior Language Teacher) The Faculty of Education, Language and Communication (FELC), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), in collaboration with the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Katolik Santos Agustinus Hippo (San Agustin), Indonesia,
