FINAL WEEKEND

Thank you to all you wonderful folks who visited to support this community event.

Five weeks go by quickly, and it’s now the final weekend of this year’s Hills Book Festival.

Feeling really thankful as we wind down. Thankful for the renewal of friendships nurtured over the years, thankful for the new found friends we meet, and thankful to see the joy in the faces of both adults and kids with their precious finds.

Thankful also for all your encouragement through your warm words of appreciation and thoughtful acts of kindness - like the anonymous thoughtful lady who dropped off that lovely pack of strawberries!

We have Youth chapter books to share with underprivileged students in remote rural secondary schools, and if you teach (or know of any need for these books) in such poor and deprived areas, please let us know asap at 012-884-6302 for the free books.

We’re open until 10 pm, Sunday night (Apr 26).

FEED YOUR MIND – READ A BOOK

We're now into the second last weekend of the Hills Book Festival (ending next weekend on Apr 26).

New books have been added daily and there are still interesting selections to be hunted down.

We ran out of the Harry Potter's, but then we found a few more hiding in the corner yesterday.

Almost all of our like-new Colleen Hoover (Starts/Ends with us) books are gone - RM7.90 compared with RM69.90 in the bookstore.

Today, five minutes after we dropped two 170-year old Vintage books (our oldest ever), someone spotted them and went home delirious.

But we still have a wide mix of Children picture and chapter books for Teens and Young Adults. Ditto for Self-Help/Inspirational/Health/Business/Cookbooks.

If you want to spend a wholesome weekend in comfort, you can park yourself at the General Books section unearthing all the diverse topics piled up there. Hard work but fun.

Come to browse and read by the Food Lounge (buying not required) and have your meal here.

And if you need groceries, drop into Emart's GOCELI Supermarket to get your eggs, fruits, veg, Milo, or sushi. Ask at our counter for complimentary Goceli RM10 vouchers when you buy RM100 or more.

Books are one of life's simple but remarkable pleasures. They can inform and educate, and they can be fun and entertain. Here are a few of such pleasures we just put out in the displays.

We have little training in parenting our children, and much of it is through trial and error.

The mistakes we make as parents can have long term consequences for both child and parent.

When a child throws a tantrum or show little empathy for others, you know that something is not right. Parents who make the child the centre of their universe can contribute to the child's sense of entitlement.

So, how then should we bring up a child who will grow into a mature, caring, and responsible person? Find out by investing in some good parenting books now available at the Hills Book festival.

A good parenting book may mean the difference between a healthy childhood experience and one that is dysfunctional. It will be the best investment you can make to help become an effective parent raising a model well-disciplined child instead of a delinquent.

The HILLS Book Festival starts in a few hours - Sunday, Mar 22.

Every year’s shipment has its surprises – it’s either sweet, sour, or a mixed bag.

The positives this time around are that many of the books are brand new. Also, there is a huge choice of good CHILDREN books – both Fiction & Non-Fiction; lots of newer Adult Fiction titles; new titles for HEALTH, HISTORY & BIOGRAPHY; and more than the usual COMICS and GRAPHIC NOVELS.

The downside is that we must have got around 10,000 YOUTH books, but if you like to encourage the young to read more, there’s so much to choose from.

For the best selections, come early as good titles tend to go quickly.
