On 13 June 2026, Roots Gymnasium proudly hosted the AGA Ranking Shoot. What started as a cold winter morning quickly heated up as archers from across the region took to the range.

ROOTS RIDERS RISE: STEENKAMP & OOSTHUIZEN DELIVER

What an incredible display of endurance, grit, and passion from our cyclists this past holiday!

🏁 8 May – Munga le Dur 100 Mile Challenge
Arno Steenkamp took on the brutal Munga le Dur 100-mile challenge and delivered an outstanding performance!
Stopping the clock at an impressive 6 hours 27 minutes, Arno powered his way to 8th place in the Open Men category. What a phenomenal achievement in one of the toughest endurance events!

🚵‍♂️ 9 May – Hollard Friedenau MTB Race (80km)
Not to be outdone, Nico Oosthuizen tackled the challenging 80km Hollard Friedenau MTB Race.
Clocking 4 hours 18 minutes over demanding terrain, Nico once again outdid himself and showed true determination and consistency!

We are incredibly proud of both Arno and Nico for representing with strength, perseverance, and heart. Keep pushing limits and inspiring us all!

Die laerskool het Vrydag ’n besonderse mylpaal gevier – ons jong leerders het hul heel eerste radysies geoes! Van klein saadjies tot vars produkte, was hierdie ’n praktiese les in geduld, verantwoordelikheid en die wonder van die natuur.

Deur ons leerders van jongs af te leer hoe om hul eie kos te verbou, plant ons sade van kennis wat ’n leeftyd sal hou.

Hierdeur leer ons leerders dat landbou meer is as net boerdery – dit is wetenskap, spanwerk, omgee vir die omgewing en ’n pad na selfstandigheid.

Ons is ongelooflik trots op ons toekomstige boere, innoveerders en leiers! 👩🏼‍🌾🧑🏻‍🌾

Roots Rising: Jurgens Competes Among the Best 🤼‍♂️

We are incredibly proud of Jurgens de Lange, one of our talented learners, who proudly represented Namibia during the recent holidays at the South African Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships!

Competing as part of the Namibia Wrestling Federation team, Jurgens secured an impressive 5th place in the Under-10 weight category (34.6 – 37.9 kg) out of a highly competitive field.

With 596 entries and 756 matches on the day, it was a demanding competition—but also an invaluable experience. Jurgens showed determination, resilience, and true sportsmanship throughout!

Well done, Jurgens! We are proud of you for representing both Namibia and Roots Gymnasium with excellence.👏🏻
