Opportunity for African Women Scientists
The Women for Africa Foundation has launched the 12th edition of the Science by Women programme, offering African women researchers the opportunity to undertake a six-month postdoctoral fellowship at leading research centres in Spain.
Who is it aimed at?
Women who are citizens of and reside in an African country, hold a PhD in a scientific field and have a current or recent contractual affiliation with an African university or research organisation.
What does the programme offer?
- A six-month postdoctoral fellowship at a centre of research excellence in Spain
- A monthly stipend covering accommodation, living expenses and insurance
- Round-trip flights
- Assistance with visa fees
- Access to mentoring, training opportunities and the N.O.W. is Africa Network
Since its inception, the programme has supported more than 190 women scientists from 38 African countries, strengthening scientific leadership and collaboration across the continent.
What is the application deadline?
Tuesday, 30 June 2026. All applications must be submitted in English through the programme's online application platform.

Staff members from the International Relations Office and the School of Business Management, Governance and Economics recently attended an International Week at partner institution, FH Technikum Wien (FHTW). The two institutions have an MOU and an agreement for academic collaboration and student exchange in business, engineering, computing and natural sciences.
Operating under the theme of "From lecture to lab: connecting teaching, research and industry" the international week focused on modalities of linking higher education and industry for improved research, programme relevance and learning outcomes. The event blended academic presentations, collaborative sessions, company visits, cultural excursions, and networking opportunities for participating professors and administrators from universities in Asia, Africa, North America and Europe.

The International Relations Office recently carried out a campus outreach exercise to the northern campuses as part of the SHINE Erasmus+ CBHE Project Work Package 2 activities. During the outreach, IRO staff delivered presentations to academic staff and management on the strategic role of internationalisation at UNAM, the SHINE project, the operational mechanisms of partnerships and linkages, and international funding opportunities. They also undertook campus tours to become familiar with the facilities such as laboratories, lecture halls, sports facilities, libraries and staff and student accommodation.
