ALUMNI VOICES – PETROFUND alumna, Undji Katjerungu is among the beneficiaries of the Fund’s Oil and Gas Master’s in Law scholarship. She completed her studies at the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom.

Katjerungu encourages prospective candidates to look out for opportunities such as the PETROFUND scholarship, noting that they provide access to a wide range of opportunities within the upstream oil and gas sector.

She currently serves as a commercial lawyer at Bowman Namibia.

CAREER AWARENESS – PETROFUND Communications Lead, Shoki Kandjimi will this morning participate in the Amazing Kids Private School Career Awareness Week an initiative aimed at exposing learners to a variety of professions, connecting them with industry professionals and helping them gain a better understanding of the career pathways available after school.

During the event, Kandjimi will share insights into PETROFUND’s mandate, available scholarship opportunities and the diverse career prospects within the upstream oil and gas industry, equipping learners with information to make informed decisions about their future careers.

O&G LECTURE SERIES – PETROFUND, in partnership with SBM Offshore will host an online upstream oil and gas lecture aimed at enhancing public understanding of offshore petroleum operations.

This month’s session will focus on FPSO Topsides Engineering, providing insights into the key systems and processes that support offshore oil and gas production.

A RESERVOIR OF TALENT – PETROFUND CEO, Nillian Mulemi said meaningful local participation in Namibia’s emerging oil and gas industry begins with deliberate preparation. She emphasised the need for stakeholders to work collectively in creating enabling pathways that equip young Namibians with the skills, knowledge and opportunities required to participate in the upstream petroleum sector.

Mulemi made these remarks this week during a public lecture series on Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) technology and its applications held in Windhoek at the Namibia University of Science and Technology - NUST.

The lecture series was hosted by NUST’s Namibia Energy Institute (NEI) in partnership with PETROFUND and Yinson Production. The initiative aimed to educate the Namibian public on FPSO technology and explore its role in supporting the development of Namibia’s offshore oil and gas industry.

The session was facilitated by Hendrik Baardson, who shared insights into FPSO operations and their significance in offshore petroleum production.

About 50 students and young oil and gas enthusiasts attended the series.

GEOSCIENCES TALKS – The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Africa Region President, Nillian Mulemi today welcomed participants to the AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshop (GTW) in Windhoek.

In her opening remarks, Mulemi highlighted the work of the AAPG Africa Region and underscored the significance of the workshop, particularly in light of the major onshore and offshore hydrocarbon discoveries in Namibia.

The two-day workshop is being held under the theme, “Finding New Elephants: New Insights from Hydrocarbon Exploration Along the Southern African Margin and Onshore.”

It aims to explore key developments in hydrocarbon exploration, including the intensive drilling campaigns conducted offshore Namibia, which have led to multiple discoveries, opened new deep-water plays and provided valuable insights into the petroleum systems of the Southern African Margin.

Discussions will further focus on updates relating to deep-water plays, current geological understanding, and the future exploration potential of the South Atlantic Margin.

More than 100 geoscientists and industry delegates from around the world are participating in the workshop.

ALUMNI VOICES - PETROFUND alumnus Frans Kalenga shares how his life was transformed after receiving a PETROFUND scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering at the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. He encouraged eligible candidates to apply for the scholarship and make the most of the opportunity.

Kalenga currently serves as Country Manager for SONILS in Namibia and as Chairperson of the PETROFUND Alumni Association. He also urged PETROFUND beneficiaries to join the association and give back by mentoring and supporting future scholars.
