I was not expecting to cry when I walked into my classroom on Tuesday.

I had been out sick on Monday. My daughter and I both came down with something terrible and coming back felt heavy.

But I walked into my classroom and stopped right at the door.

My entire whiteboard was covered. Every inch of it. Messages, hearts, stars, drawings. Then I looked at my desk. Then the cabinet. Sticky notes on every surface.

One signed off as "your guy." Another wrote three notes, two of them praying for my baby girl. One promised they tried not to make noise while I was away. And one child brought biscuits to school for my daughter. 😭

This is what eight years in the classroom has taught me. The environment you build for your students determines the love they give back to you.

Children know when they are in a space that is genuine. And when they know it, they protect it.

I did not just come back to a classroom today. I came back to proof that the work is working.

I have been battling toothache for a while now and have already had four teeth extracted.

My last extraction was on 18th December 2025. Trust me, it is not something you would wish on anyone.

After the last extraction, I had a filling done and have been carefully following all the instructions and recommendations from my dentist.

However, the pain still returns from time to time. On Monday, 1st June, I experienced another severe episode, and it was quite difficult to bear.

If you know anyone who has experienced a similar situation and found a lasting solution, kindly recommend them or share their advice.
