The Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation, CERHI, University of Benin, heartily congratulates Dr. (Mrs.) Otaniyenuwa Eloghosa Obarisiagbon, our Centre Leader, on her elevation to Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine.

Professor Otaniyenuwa Eloghosa Obarisiagbon has consistently advanced knowledge, improved health outcomes, and set high standards within the University and beyond.

We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Otaniyenuwa Obarisiagbon as our new Centre Leader, Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI), University of Benin. She is an Associate Professor of Public Health, a Fellow of the Medical College in Public Health, and a Consultant at UBTH.
A graduate of UNIBEN with both an MBBS and MPH, she has served in several leadership roles at both state and university levels, including as Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency in 2022.
Dr. Obarisiagbon is passionate about mentorship, reproductive health, and supporting people to grow and reach their full potential.

Citation for Dr. (Mrs.) Otaniyenuwa Eloghosa Obarisiagbon (née Aimuengheuwa)

Dr. (Mrs.) Otaniyenuwa Eloghosa Obarisiagbon is an accomplished scholar, public health physician, and academic leader whose contributions continue to advance reproductive health and strengthen public health systems in Nigeria and beyond.
Born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, Dr. Obarisiagbon is an alumna of the University of Benin, where she earned both her MBBS degree and Master’s in Public Health. She is a specialist in Reproductive Health with a distinguished career dedicated to improving maternal, child, and community health outcomes through research, teaching, and service.
She currently holds the rank of Associate Professor and serves as an Honorary Consultant in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). In addition, she is the Head of the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at both the University of Benin and UBTH, providing visionary leadership in medical education, research, and healthcare delivery.
Dr. Obarisiagbon has also contributed significantly to public service. In 2022, she served as the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, where she played a vital role in strengthening primary healthcare systems and advancing public health interventions across the state. Her outstanding performance earned her recognition as the Edo State Coordinator for MRITE, a USAID-funded project.
A Fellow of the Medical College in Public Health (FMCPH), Dr. Obarisiagbon’s academic and professional interests span epidemiology, reproductive health, and public health nutrition. She has authored and co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications, contributing valuable knowledge to the field of public health and reproductive health innovation.
Beyond her scholarly and professional accomplishments, Dr. Obarisiagbon is deeply committed to mentorship and capacity building. She is passionate about guiding young professionals to become competent, compassionate, and impactful healthcare practitioners.
As a devoted wife and mother of four, she exemplifies the balance of excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and family life. Dr. Obarisiagbon’s enduring contributions to public health and reproductive health innovation make her a worthy recipient of recognition and celebration.

The Centre for Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI) invites applications from qualified and highly motivated students seeking Industrial Attachment / SIWES placement in its Research and Molecular Laboratory Unit.

CERHI offers hands-on training in:
• Molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis)
• Microbiological and biomedical research methods
• Laboratory safety and quality control procedures
• Research data analysis and scientific reporting
• Reproductive health–related laboratory investigations
This is an excellent opportunity for students in:
