KHAIRUN STRENGTHENS CAMPUS SECURITY THROUGH STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT WITH SHARADA DIVISIONAL POLICE OFFICER

As part of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment for students and staff, the Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) received the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sharada Division on a strategic security assessment and advisory visit to the University.

The visit forms part of the University's proactive efforts to strengthen security architecture across the campus and its hostels through collaboration with relevant security agencies and stakeholders.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, led his team and the DPO on an extensive tour of the University's facilities, including academic areas, administrative buildings, and student hostels. The tour provided an opportunity for the security experts to assess the existing security arrangements and identify areas for improvement.

The DPO commended the Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University for its proactive approach to security matters and its commitment to the welfare and safety of students and staff. Drawing from his vast professional experience in law enforcement and community policing, he offered valuable insights and practical recommendations aimed at further enhancing security measures within the University community.

Throughout the engagement, the DPO made significant contributions on various aspects of campus security, including surveillance, access control, emergency response mechanisms, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with security agencies. In a demonstration of its unwavering commitment to the safety, security, and well-being of members of the university community, the Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, organized a special prayer session aimed at seeking Allah's protection over the University, its staff, students, and facilities.

The prayer session was convened as part of the University's proactive efforts to strengthen security measures on campus and invoke divine guidance and protection against all forms of evil, harm, and unforeseen challenges. The gathering brought together staff and students, alongside members of the Male and Female Ahlul Qur'an Forum, who offered fervent prayers for peace, safety, progress, and continued success of the institution.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the University Management reiterated its determination to ensure a secure and conducive environment for teaching, learning, research, and community service. KHAIRUN, ITF and SIWES Office Hold Orientation Programme for 200-Level Students

As part of efforts to strengthen students' practical and industrial exposure, the Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Office, organized an orientation programme for 200-level students ahead of their industrial attachment exercise.

In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the University emphasized the importance of SIWES in bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practice. He urged the students to take advantage of the training opportunity to acquire relevant skills, develop professional ethics, and represent the University positively during their industrial placements.

Earlier, the SIWES Coordinator, Dr. Bello Imamuddeen, delivered a welcome address in which he appreciated the Management of the University and the Industrial Training Fund for their continued support towards the successful implementation of the programme. He encouraged the students to pay close attention to the presentations and adhere strictly to SIWES guidelines.

The orientation featured presentations by officials of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), who enlightened the students on the objectives, procedures, and expectations of the SIWES programme, as well as the roles and responsibilities of participating students and host organizations.

Delivering the closing remarks, the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Professor Ado Dan Isa, commended the Management of the University, the SIWES Office, and ITF for organizing the programme. He urged the students to make effective use of the knowledge gained and wished them a successful and rewarding industrial training experience.

The programme reaffirmed the commitment of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University to producing graduates equipped with the practical skills and competencies required to excel in their respective fields and contribute meaningfully to national development.

KHAIRUN Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Kano State Ministry of Health

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kano State Ministry of Health in a significant step towards strengthening collaboration in healthcare education, training, and service delivery.

The MoU signing ceremony took place on Thursday, 18th June 2026, at the Kano State Ministry of Health, with the KHAIRUN delegation led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba.

In his remarks, Prof. Garba conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Muhammad Rabiu Foundation, the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, and Management of KHAIRUN to the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, and the entire Ministry. He commended the Ministry for its continuous support and assistance to the University, describing the partnership as a testament to the shared commitment of both institutions towards advancing healthcare education and services.

The Vice-Chancellor further expressed his profound appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner and senior officials of the Ministry for their steadfastness, cooperation, and dedication, which culminated in the successful conclusion of the collaboration agreement. He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Dean, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Prof. Muhammad Yalwa Gwarzo, and the Registrar, Malam Yusuf Datti, whose resilience and perseverance played a vital role in facilitating the successful completion of the MoU process.

Speaking during the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, expressed delight in receiving the KHAIRUN delegation and appreciated the University’s recognition of the efforts of the Ministry and the Kano State Government. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the University and emphasized the important role private universities play in complementing government efforts in the development of the education and health sectors.

Dr. Yusuf noted that the collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to the advancement of healthcare services and the overall well-being of society. He further assured KHAIRUN of the Ministry’s full support and confirmed that state-owned health facilities across Kano State would be made available for the clinical training and practical exposure of the University’s students.

KHAIRUN Students Celebrates the Islamic New Year 1448AH with Inspiring Educational and Spiritual Activities

As part of efforts to promote Islamic values, intellectual development, and student engagement, the Students' Ahlul Qur'an Forum of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) has organized a series of activities to commemorate the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1448AH.

The initiative, which was inspired by the visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba provides students with an opportunity to reflect on the lessons of the historic Hijrah (Migration) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) while fostering learning, unity, and healthy competition among members of the university community.

The programme featured presentations on the history and significance of the Hijrah in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, and French. Other activities include a Qur'anic Challenge (Alif to Ya), an Open Question Session, and a variety of drama presentations designed to educate and inspire participants.

Through these activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of the sacrifices, perseverance, and faith demonstrated by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his companions during the migration from Makkah to Madinah—an event that marked a turning point in Islamic history and serves as the foundation of the Islamic calendar.

The Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulrashid Garba commends the Students' Ahlul Qur'an Forum for organizing this laudable programme and encourages all students to be participating in this kind of activities.

FINANCE AND GENERAL PURPOSE COMMITTEE HOLDS 5TH MEETING, REVIEWS UNIVERSITY FINANCIAL MATTERS

The Finance and General Purpose Committee (F&GPC) of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) today, Tuesday, 16th June 2026, held its 5th Meeting to deliberate on key financial and administrative matters relating to the development and sustainability of the University.

The meeting was chaired by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Kabiru Isyaku, and was attended by Principal Officers of the University, representatives of the Governing Council, Deans of Faculties, and other members of the Committee.

During the meeting, members extensively reviewed the University's financial position and discussed various issues concerning the effective management of its resources. The Committee considered and deliberated on the Approved Budget for the 2026 financial year, with emphasis on ensuring prudent allocation of resources to support the University's strategic objectives and continued growth.

The Committee also reviewed the Audited Annual Report and Financial Statements for the year ended 31st December 2025. Members examined the reports and discussed measures aimed at strengthening financial accountability, transparency, and operational efficiency across the institution.

In his remarks, the Chairman commended the University's management for its commitment to sound financial management and encouraged continued adherence to best practices in governance and accountability.

The meeting concluded with resolutions aimed at enhancing the University's financial sustainability and supporting its mission of providing quality education, research, and community service.
