What is transmitted through family narratives, cultural myths, and unintegrated experiences? What have we inherited and how can we reshape our responses to support greater choice and fullness in our lives?
This 3 day master workshop hosted by EMOVE Institute focuses on how we are shaped by the histories of those who came before us. During the workshop you will engage memory and imagination – moving, writing, and drawing – to creatively embody the unique trajectories of generational material and our adaptations to it.
Led by EMOVE co-founder Katharina Conradi and dance artist, educator and lecturer Joanna Brotman you can get your tickets from the bio or via our website
These master workshops are specifically designed for practitioners with an LBMS background.

Releasing Our Weight
Connecting To The Earth
Condensing To Gather Feedback
Directing And Sending
Peggy Hackney tells us the importance of getting feedback in the ground of our own Being, a phrasing that allows deep connection to Self and an awareness of Other.

We had the pleasure of working with guest teacher Colleen Wahl during our last module. We got specific about the qualities of touch that best support us and the clients we work with.
‘Touch can facilitate greater connectivity, ease, and awareness in movement by increasing sensation in ways that will foster new possibilities for movement…it is a vulnerable and powerful experience.’ (Wahl, 2019)

In Module 4 we introduced the Primary Scale, known by some as the mother of all scales, and is where we find the patterns of other scales replicated within it. We moved our inner starlings to find the 'murmurating' movement and noticed we’d be creating some flocking movements of our own when practicing our Girdle & Axis scales also!
Laban's 'work in creating ordered spatial sequences called Scales, remains a ground-breaking technique in exploring, refining, expanding, repatterning and optimizing the potential of our movement' (Studd & Cox, 2020)

And just like that, Module 4 is complete 🤸🏽♀️🌌🧽🪶
It was a rich one, nourished by the contributions of wonderful guest teachers like , , and , alongside our incredible core teaching faculty and assistants.
This community learning model continues to support exchange, growth, and richness. Through each person we witness, share with, and move alongside, we discover countless inroads into this extraordinary system we all engage in together.
Feeling grateful for the depth of practice, conversation, curiosity, and care that shaped this module. Looking forward to what continues to unfold from here ✨
For now... Happy recuperation to everyone!

6-12 July 2026, early bird ends 15th of May!
here is what others say: Each morning, we dove into the Laban Bartenieff Movement System; in the afternoons, we explored the depths of Authentic Movement. These practices, artfully woven together through the timeless archetypes of Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey, opened pathways into parts of myself I didn’t even know were waiting to be seen and felt.
Being immersed in wild nature, dancing in community with open-hearted humans from around the world, created a sense of belonging and intimacy I never expected. Though we were strangers at first, it felt as though we had shared lifetimes together. The bonds formed were profound and lasting.
Stepping away from the noise and demands of daily life to honor my inner world was the greatest gift I could have given to myself. This retreat didn’t just offer a temporary escape-it sparked a deep remembering of who I am and has helped me keep my dreams alive.
If you hear even the faintest call to reconnect with your body, your essence, and a nurturing community, do not hesitate to say yes. Katharina’s retreat is more than an experience—it’s a doorway back to your truest self.' Ann-Marie

Invitations from Alexandra Baybutt, movement principles class last module.
A simple framework - notice, learn, sense, think - reflecting the meaning-making process at the heart of somatic practice. By bringing attention to sensation, awareness, and thought, we begin to organize our experience, shifting it from something we simply do into something we understand.
In this context, meaning isn’t prescribed; it emerges through embodied inquiry.
