‘Generation Loneliness’ is the graduation film created by Moving Image student Maike. From selecting the subject matter to choosing the medium and equipment, everything fell into place once she recognised the need to make this film.

It offers viewers an insight into how social media can, at times, make us feel lonely and even addicted. As explains: “You see it on the metro. In a place where we are all together, because of our phones we behave as though we are completely alone.”

“I’m very interested in the connections between human beings and more-than-human bodies,” says Weronica about the inspiration behind her graduation project. For this project, she designed a burial suit that explores how ecosystems are in a constant state of transformation, continuously becoming one another — including ourselves as humans.

Dealing with the absence of memories - that is the central theme of Caroline’s graduation project. In an immersive experience, visitors explore a space defined by the absence of light, gradually discovering the installation.

During several awards were presented on behalf of , including the Talent Impact Prize, the Pop Prize, and the award for Best Track. Crossmedia Design student was tasked with designing the awards, and in this video he explains how he approached the process.

The future is handmade

“The fact that the glass puffs up during the making process really aligns with what I try to express through my work,” says Liz, a Fine Art student at AKI.

The exhibition, titled Shaping the Unpredictable, is on view until May 7. It presents the outcome of a student field trip Liz and her fellow AKI students took with their teacher, , to Leerdam, where they worked alongside master glassblower Gert Bullée.

The future is handmade.

“I believe that truly seeing something for what it is brings you closest to its essence”, says Feya, a Fine Art student at AKI. By exploring objects both within and beyond their usual context, she is discovering new meanings and possibilities.
