📊 How to Sound Like a Native English Speaker on Probability?

Ever wonder exactly how confident you sound when you say "Probably" vs. “Definitely”?

English speakers use different words to show just how likely something is to happen. If you want to master your vocabulary and sound like a pro, save this handy guide! 📥👇

📈 High Probability (70% – 100%)

100% — Definitely:** Absolutely certain. Zero doubt.
“I am definitely coming to the party tonight!”

90% — Certainly: Almost totally sure, highly confident.
“She will certainly pass the exam; she studied all week.”

80% — Probably: Very likely, but with a tiny bit of room for surprise.
“It will probably rain later, so grab an umbrella.”

70% — Likely:** Good odds, expected to happen.
“It is likely we will finish the project on time.”

⚖️ The Middle Ground (50% – 60%)

60% — There’s a good chance: It’s leaning toward happening, but not guaranteed.
“There’s a good chance he’ll get the job promotion.”

50% — It could go either way: A perfect 50/50 split. Totally unsure!
“Will it snow tomorrow? It could go either way.”

📉 Low Probability (0% – 40%)

40% — Probably not: It’s unlikely, though still slightly possible.
“I’ll probably not go out tonight, I'm too tired.”

30% — Unlikely: Odds are against it happening.
“It’s unlikely they will change the rules now.”

20% — Very doubtful: Highly improbable.
“It’s very doubtful that the store is open this late.”

10% — Almost not: A tiny sliver of a chance, but expect a 'no'.
“There is almost no chance of a delay.”

0% — No chance: Completely impossible!
“There is no chance I am waking up at 4:00 AM.”
