"तुम्ही नेपाळमधील तुमच्या वास्तव्याचा आनंद घेत असाल अशी आशा आहे." ( Hope you are enjoying your stay in Nepal!)

That’s how participants were welcomed this year. Reason: teams from Pune and Mumbai, India were in the Hall.

They weren’t here by accident. They were “hackathon hunting” across neighboring countries, found something called Deerhack 2026 in DevFolio. Upon further inquiry, they figured out that its one of the most highly rated hackathons around. Applied, got selected!

𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 brought together 𝟳𝟮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝟭𝟳 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀, 𝟮 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. Inhouse teams traveled from Biratnagar, Itahari, Butwal and Mahendranagar.

All projects stood out - ones those stood out more included a data-driven approach to sustainable Yarsagumba Harvesting, and an AI System for Glacier lake outburst monitoring and climate adaptation. Serious ideas, built in not-so-serious sleep conditions.

The winning project, Nityam, tackled a very relatable truth: students don’t fail because of lack of content, they fail because consistency has better marketing than reality.

What DeerHack keeps proving is simple.

Give students a problem, a deadline, and WiFi — and they will surprise you. Sometimes in ways even they don’t fully understand until demo day. The DeerHack Organizing Committee handled everything end-to-end and somehow made chaos look like coordination.

And this year, 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 achieved a small milestone worth noting — a student-led hackathon in Kathmandu convincing teams from outside the country that “𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗵, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲!”

By the time everyone left, one feedback line was surprisingly consistent:

“This was the best hackathon we’ve participated in.”
