One More Step Towards Building Resilient Communities
With technical and financial support from BMZ/WHH through the Sustain Project, RRN, MIC Nepal, and FTG Nepal have jointly submitted this fiscal year’s project budget to both partner local governments.
This important milestone lays the foundation for future resource mobilization by ensuring that project investments are guided by local needs, available resources, and the proven effectiveness of planned activities.

Empowering Local Governments for a Greener Economic Future:
Under the SUSTAIN project, Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTGN), in coordination with RRN Nepal and MIC Nepal implemented by Development Vision Consultancy, is leading a pre-feasibility and market study on green enterprises. The study has been completed in Barekot Rural Municipality and Aathbiskot Municipality.
The work is expected to support local-level business incubation, strengthen enterprise sustainability, and help improve long-term economic planning in the local government.
With the involvement of local governments, stakeholders, and community groups, and support from BMZ and WHH, this initiative contributes to building stronger and more sustainable local green economies.

Day 3 of the Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp at Nesfield International College was filled with learning, creativity, and meaningful connections. The session focused on the Lean Canvas Model, helping students explore how social issues can be transformed into practical and sustainable enterprise ideas.
Participants also had the opportunity to learn from a real-life case shared by Mr. Rahul Shakya from Manushi, gaining valuable insights into how social enterprise concepts are applied in practice.
The day ended with a heartwarming cultural exchange between Nepali and Japanese students. It was truly inspiring to see their curiosity, openness, and enthusiasm as they learned about each other's communities, shared experiences, and worked together to develop solutions to social challenges. Moments like these remind us that innovation grows stronger when diverse perspectives come together.

Day 2 of the Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, organized in collaboration with Kwansei Gakuin University, brought together students from Kwansei Gakuin University and Nesfield International College.
Through interactive activities and group work, participants explored social entrepreneurship, transformed real-world issues from Nepal and Japan into business ideas, and developed concepts that create both social impact and sustainable value.

Dr. Sunil Chitrakar participated in the 5th National Social Entrepreneurship Summit 2026 as a keynote speaker, delivering insights on social entrepreneurship in Nepal and the role of Fair Trade organizations. His remarks focused on building inclusive business models that effectively bridge profit and social impact within Nepal’s evolving social enterprise landscape.
The event was organized by the Nepal Development Initiative. It brought together key stakeholders to address policy gaps and strengthen the social enterprise ecosystem.

On the occasion of World Fair Trade Day 2026, Fair Trade Group Nepal, jointly with the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), successfully organized an Interaction Programme on the theme “Building Resilience beyond LDC Graduation” on 17 May 2026 at the FHAN Meeting Hall, Kathmandu.
The programme focused on creating awareness about the ePing platform and understanding non-tariff barriers to support exporters in monitoring international trade requirements and strengthening regulatory compliance. The event also provided an open forum for exporters to discuss current banking procedure challenges and explore practical solutions through collective dialogue.
The interaction concluded with valuable insights and recommendations from sector experts, highlighting possible pathways for strengthening Nepal’s trade resilience and supporting sustainable growth beyond LDC graduation.
