Reliving the Creative Aspect

The Department of Languages and Mass Communication (DOLMC) at the Kathmandu University School of Arts successfully hosted a dynamic creative writing workshop titled “Writing with Objects” today at the BMT Hall in Hattiban. Supported by the Australian Embassy in Kathmandu and the Association of Nepalese Alumni from Australia (ANAA), the event brought together a passionate cohort of writers and students.

The session was concluded by the remarks of the distinguished guests from the Embassy, ANAA and the department. They shared and reflected their appreciation on the initiative of such programs and workshops by the University. Deputy Chief of Mission Greg Klemm on behalf of the Australian Embassy and Mr. Ananta Poudyal representing ANAA as its President shared their view on the compassionate approach of the creative writers. Prof. Nirmala Mani Adhikary, Head of Department of the DOLMC, also addressed the gathering, poignantly highlighting the deep, evolving ties between the two nations by noting that Australia has practically become an "eighth province" for Nepal, given the thriving and impactful diaspora of Nepalese citizens making significant contributions across all walks of life there.

The workshop featured international facilitation by Dr. Gemma Nisbet and Dr. Per Henningsgaard from Curtin University, Australia, who worked alongside Dr. Kashiraj Pandey from the DOLMC. Together, their expert guidance inspired attendees to look at storytelling through a completely new lens, transforming static objects into rich foundational tools for writing.
