𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐗𝐕 𝐑𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡

It was a pleasure to reconnect with former Wesley College students who attended the recent 1st XV rugby game against Matamata College. The afternoon provided a wonderful opportunity to share memories, celebrate the College’s rich history, and continue the strong connections that unite generations of Wesleyans.

A special thank you to Gary, an active member of the Wesley College Old Students Association (WCOSA), for his ongoing support of the College and its students. We are grateful to all our past students who took the time to attend and encourage our boys from the sidelines.

This week at Wesley College, we continue to celebrate the heart of our kura through our values of 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚, 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕, 𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚.

This week’s theme, 𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆, encourages us to remain committed and trust the journey God has set before us. We also proudly acknowledge our students receiving Kairangi Awards, including our first Gold Award recipient — a wonderful milestone that reflects the positive culture growing within our school community.

We extend our support and encouragement to our students representing Wesley College at 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒈 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈, and express our appreciation to all whaanau and supporters who continue to model outstanding sports sideline support throughout the season.

Thank you for continuing to walk alongside us in nurturing and encouraging our young people to strive for excellence in all areas of school life.

Congratulations to 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐮, Year 12, for becoming our first ever 𝑮𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑲𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒊 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 — an outstanding achievement earned through reaching 800 points.

Joseph’s commitment to consistently upholding our Kairangi Values of Family, Excellence, Responsibility, and Respect reflects the character, leadership, and dedication we strive to nurture at Wesley College.

We also recognised our Silver Kairangi Award recipients — students who have earned 550 points by consistently embodying the the values of our Kura.

Their achievement reflects not only academic commitment, but also the leadership, integrity, and consistency they bring into our learning spaces each day.

Today during Chapel, we proudly celebrated our students who earned their Bronze Kairangi Award — a wonderful achievement that reflects their commitment to our Kura’s Kairangi Values of Family, Excellence, Responsibility, and Respect.

These students have shown consistency in demonstrating positive attitudes, strong character, and excellence in their classes, earning an impressive 300 points along the way.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. We are proud of the example you set within our school community.

𝐂𝐌𝐑𝐅𝐔 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐑𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐗𝐕

The Wesley College Girls 1st XV secured a 64–0 victory over Tuakau College / Onewhero Area School last Monday.

We are proud of the girls for the way they represented the school with teamwork, discipline, and respect throughout the game. More than the result, it was great to see the players support one another and play with heart from start to finish.

Thank you to Tuakau College / Onewhero Area School for the game and for the sportsmanship shown on the field. All the best to your team for the upcoming games.

𝐂𝐌𝐑𝐅𝐔 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐑𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝐘𝟗/𝐘𝟏𝟎 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬

On Monday, 8 June, our Wesley College U15 Girls team earned a 30–12 win against Waiuku College in a spirited and competitive match.

The girls demonstrated the Kairangi values throughout the game — showing respect, resilience, teamwork, and pride in the way they carried themselves both on and off the field. Their willingness to encourage one another and play with determination until the final whistle was pleasing to see.

Thank you to Waiuku College for the positive sportsmanship and hard-fought game. We wish your team all the best for the rest of the season.

𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞

Today we welcomed a new tradition at Wesley College; one that has been long honoured across many kura.

The presentation of a cap recognises a player’s dedication, commitment, and sense of purpose in representing the 1st XV.

We were proud to acknowledge Year 13 student, Vice Captain and Prefect, 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗶 𝗕𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀, on the occasion of his 30th game — a significant milestone.

In a powerful moment of acknowledgement, the team honoured his achievement with a haka, reflecting the brotherhood, respect, and pride within the group.

This marks the beginning of an exciting tradition we look forward to extending across other sports, including our Girls’ 1st XV.
