🎶 An outstanding achievement for our Liston College Choir! 🎶

Following their return to The Big Sing for the first time in 13 years, our talented young men have been recognised with a number of prestigious awards, celebrating their dedication, musicianship, and commitment to excellence.

The Choir was honoured with:
🏆 Gala Concert Performance Award and the Margery Charlton Memorial Trophy

These achievements are a testament to the countless hours of rehearsal, perseverance, and teamwork shown by our students throughout the year. They also reflect the passion and dedication of the staff who have worked tirelessly to rebuild and grow the choral programme at Liston College.

Particularly special is the recognition received for performances celebrating both Māori and Pasifika cultures, highlighting the respect, understanding, and excellence our young men brought to the stage.

We congratulate every member of the Choir on these remarkable accomplishments. Your courage to perform, commitment to one another, and pride in representing Liston College have made our entire community proud.

🎵 Thirteen years in the making.

Today saw our Liston College Choir take part in The Big Sing, New Zealand’s premier secondary school choral festival, for the first time in 13 years.

After months of dedication, rehearsals, and hard work, our young men proudly represented the College, sharing their talents and passion for music alongside some of the country’s finest school choirs. Standing on stage with schools from across Auckland, they demonstrated the courage to challenge themselves, the commitment to work as one, and the excellence that comes from perseverance and preparation.

The countless hours of practice, together with the support of staff, whānau, and fellow students, were evident in every note sung. More than a performance, today marked the return of a proud tradition and an important milestone for music at Liston College.

We are immensely proud of every student who took part and grateful to the staff whose dedication has helped re-establish choral music within our College community. We look forward to seeing this programme continue to grow and inspire future generations of Liston men.

Congratulations to all involved on this historic return.

👏🎶

A message from Watercare:

Watercare will soon begin major watermain renewal works along Swanson Road (between Sturges Road and Lincoln Road), starting in late June 2026.

While full traffic management will be in place from early July (during the school holidays), significant traffic disruption is expected to continue when school resumes on Monday 20 July.

This includes lane reductions, contraflow traffic, and delays, particularly during peak travel times.

If families travel along Swanson Road, we encourage allowing extra time for journeys or considering alternative routes where possible.
