CELEBRATING ELLERSLIE STUDENTS' SUCCESSES
Isheli won two Gold Medals in the Under 8/9 Kata and Kumite events at the Karate New Zealand Open, National Karate Tournament 2026. This year’s tournament was particularly significant, as larger number of competitors and officials participated from Australia and New Caledonia. Isheli’s achievement in such a competitive international field makes her success even more commendable.
A few weeks ago, three Ellerslie students travelled to Brisbane to compete at the Oceania BMX Championships - the largest BMX event in Oceania history, with over 1,200 riders competing. All students performed exceptionally well in highly competitive age groups, achieving the following results:
1st – Jackson (11 Boys)
7th – Haru (8 Boys)
12th – Sota (9 Boys)
Last month, four Ellerslie students competed at the BMX New Zealand National Championships in Te Awamutu. This event also hosted the New Zealand Mighty 11 BMX trials, in which Jackson was a trialist. National Championship results were:
1st – Jackson (11 Boys)
1st – Sota (9 Boys)
9th – Haru (8 Boys)
9th – Max (9 Boys)
More recently Jackson went to Australia after being selected as Captain of the New Zealand BMX Mighty 11 Junior Test Team. Jackson had an incredible experience leading the New Zealand team in the annual Toshiba Cup Test Series against Australia's top four riders. The teams went head-to-head over two days of racing in Taree, Victoria, with the New Zealand boys securing a convincing 31-point victory, defeating Australia 113 points to 82 and successfully defending the prestigious Toshiba Cup.
CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE, WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU ALL!

On Monday the Eco Warriors had an exciting opportunity to go to Brookby farms and plant our trees that we have grown for a year for Trees for Survival. It was a perfect day with great weather! We took roughly 2 hours to plant 800 trees on a riverside area on the farm. It was a great day, well done Eco Warriors I'm super proud of you all. Thanks to Mrs Yeoman and the other adult helpers

Talofa lava Ellerslie Aiga,
Manuia le Vaia*o o le Gagana Samoa! (Happy Samoan Language Week!)
This year's theme is:
‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu'u – From the high mountains are the blessings of the village.
Samoan Language Week has been lots of fun at Ellerslie School. Throughout the week, students have been learning Samoan greetings, songs, dances, and language. Many students also joined in lunchtime activities such as mindful colouring and Samoan dancing.
Today, Madara led our school in a Samoan loku (prayer) at assembly, and members of our Pasifika group performed a beautiful Siva Samoa. It was wonderful to see so many students dressed in their cultural attire and to hear Samoan greetings being shared at the front gate.
Fa'afetai tele lava to everyone who helped us celebrate Samoan Language Week and embrace Samoan culture.
Manuia le a*o! (Have a great day!)
