Congratulations to Ada Zhang (Year 13), who has been selected to participate in the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ) National Shakespeare Schools’ Production (NSSP) taking place in Wellington later this year.

This prestigious achievement follows Ada’s success at the SGCNZ Victoria University of Wellington National Shakespeare Festival, where she was named Supreme Winner in the SGCNZ / Morrison Music Trust Shakespeare Composition Competition.

This Friday 19 June, our Level 2 NCEA Drama students present ‘Yellow Wallpaper’. This play is adapted from the well-known 19th Century Gothic short story of the same name. The story was written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in protest of the Rest Cure treatment that she herself suffered through.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the smash-hit Broadway musical, this larger-than-life adventure bursts with laughter, heart and a whole lot of swamp-sized charm. Join Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona and a cast of unforgettable fairytale misfits as they journey through a world of humour, romance and unexpected friendship in search of true acceptance.

When Shrek’s peaceful swamp is suddenly overrun by banished storybook characters, he strikes a deal with the dastardly Lord Farquaad and sets off on a quest to rescue a princess. But as every fairytale knows, things are never quite as simple as they seem. With plenty of twists, surprises and toe-tapping fun along the way, Shrek JR is a wildly entertaining celebration of being proudly, perfectly yourself.

What an outstanding display of talent at our Junior School Speech Competition on Thursday! Our Year 5 and 6 students truly impressed us with their confidence, thoughtful content, and delivery.

The theme for this year was ‘Our Roots, Our Voice, Our Future,’ and our speakers did an incredible job highlighting the importance of protecting our land for the generations to come.
