Since 1979, our vibrant Community House in Birkenhead has empowered locals through connection, learning, and support.

Join us and be part of a welcoming space where everyone is valued. Highbury House is the community house in the Birkenhead area, we run classes for the community, workshops and events. Our 3 rooms are available to hire for meetings, counselling, classes etc, with commercial and community hire rates. We have a very popular Early Learning Centre for children

Just a reminder that Foodtogether orders close at 12pm tomorrow (Thursday) for pick up Friday from 1pm to 2pm at Highbury House.

The new $20 bag comes with an increased amount of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Just a reminder that Foodtogether orders close at 12pm tomorrow (Thursday) for pick up Friday from 1pm to 2pm at Highbury House.

Instead of the usual $15 bag, there will now be a $20 box with a larger amount of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Contents this week will mostly like be Broccoli, Spinach, Carrot, Potato, Onion, Pumpkin, Banana, Apples and Oranges.

Chair Pilates is a low-impact workout tailored for older adults which has huge health benefits including building strength, easing chronic pain and helping prevent falls.

We currently have three Senior Chair Pilates sessions running here on Tuesdays during term time at 9.15am, 10.15 and 11.15am.

These are very popular classes, but we do have limited spaces available and would love to see some new faces come along.

After the success of her Dumpling Workshop, we are delighted to have the amazing Christine back at Highbury House sharing another of her impressive talents with us.

Learn how to make one of these beautiful succulent creations that are sure to look fantastic in any home.

The workshop takes place on Saturday August 1st from 10am to 12pm and the cost is $30 with all materials provided.

Did you know that along with being a great social activity, playing Bridge can significantly improve memory, problem-solving and critical thinking skills?

Just a reminder that our two week Bridge Taster course will be starting next Friday. There is also an option to complete a further 10 week course, and we hope to then offer a weekly casual Bridge session here.

Can anyone identify this unknown item that we found in our shed?

We have no idea what it is used for, possibly something art-related, so we would love to know. It comes apart in 4 pieces.

We are delighted to have The Little Ks back at Highbury House doing another one of their popular Terrarium workshops. This kids workshop is suitable for children aged 8 years plus (under 10s will need to be accompanied by an adult).

Learn how to build a terrarium (a mini indoor greenhouse) from scratch, with information on how to care for your plant once you take it home.

All materials are provided and the cost is $75 per person. No previous experience necessary!

Our friends at the Birkdale Beach Haven Community Project INC have two exciting events coming up soon. On Saturday June 20th, check out their Matariki Community Celebration where you can enjoy free community workshops, games, waiata, hāngī and more.
On Friday the 26th, drop in to Birkdale Primary from 9.30am to 2pm and enjoy some impressive performances form our local school Kapa Haka groups at this annual Kapa Haka Festival.

Stallholders wanted!

We are delighted to be bringing you our first Matariki Twilight Market on Saturday July 18th. The market will run from 2pm to 5pm.

We are currently looking for some mores stall holders. Although we would love to hear from all potential stall holders, for this market we would like to encourage local innovation and we will prioritise those selling items designed or created by the stall holder themselves or by the local community.

The cost per stall is $10, or there will be no charge for the stall if all proceeds go to charity.
