The Heart Foundation is New Zealand’s heart charity, leading the fight against our country’s single biggest killer – heart disease.

As a registered charity, we rely on the generosity of people throughout New Zealand to support our vital work. The Heart Foundation is New Zealand’s leading independent funder of heart research and, since 1968, has funded more than $85 million in research and specialist training for cardiologists. Across New Zealand we provide support, care and advice for people and their whānau affected by heart

This Men’s Health Week, it’s time to talk numbers. And we promise you won’t need a calculator.

Here are 5 important numbers to know for your heart health:

- blood pressure
- cholesterol
- pulse
- waist size
- the age you need your first heart risk check.

Knowing these 5 numbers helps you spot problems early, make a plan with your doctor or nurse, and stay strong for the people who count on you.

This week, take a few minutes to check your numbers and put your heart first. For more info 👇

84-year-old Henry and his wife, Edith, thought life had little to no surprises left for them. How wrong they were! Neither of them could believe it when they received the fortuitous phone call, sharing the news they’d won a brand-new Jennian home in Pāpāmoa.

“It’s a privilege to have won such a beautifully furnished home. The only thing that would make it better would be if it had happened earlier in life!”

We’re back at Fieldays, standing alongside New Zealand’s rural communities to talk heart health and offer free blood pressure checks 💚

We know that 1 person in rural New Zealand dies every 4 hours from heart attack or stroke. But 1 in 3 of those deaths is avoidable with the right prevention, or timely diagnosis and treatment. So if you’re at Fieldays, roll up your sleeve, and have a blood pressure check and a chat with the team. A few minutes today could help protect your heart for years to come.
