On Wednesday, four Year 13 Sociology classes participated in the annual Sociology Expo. This event gave students an opportunity to influence policy change by educating their peers and teachers about significant social issues affecting Aotearoa and ways they can help through petitions, letter writing and more!

Our Sports Leaders were incredibly privileged to host Live Ocean’s Jono Ridler, who recently completed a record-breaking swim around the North Island to raise awareness for ocean health and, more specifically, the banning of bottom trawling.

Sharing insights from his gruelling journey, Jono spoke on the necessity of trust within a team, moving the baseline of what we perceive as normal, and how a bold, meaningful vision can unite a community. An unforgettable lesson in leadership and perseverance!

If you are able, we encourage our community to support and donate to Live Ocean in their mission to improve our ocean health and look after this taonga. In the words of Jono, "I want my generation to be the generation that says, not, 'Do you remember how good it used to be?' but, 'Do you remember how bad it used to be?'"

Our Year 13 Construction class has finished putting the final touches on their latest project. These brand-new picnic tables will be hitting the school grounds for everyone to use!

This project gave our students hands-on experience with modern building-site tools and real-world trade skills. Plus, they left their mark. Each table features our school values and a custom name plaque for the student builders.

We can't wait to see the school enjoying them next week!

Miss B’s Worker Bees have been working hard this week to provide a new composting system for our kura! Student leaders Izaac, Caleb, Sanveer, and Micah got stuck in and built the new bins behind our community garden. We are excited to expand this project soon to continue reducing the amount of waste that is sent to the landfill.
