Our noho at Te Kumi Paa Marae, Te Kōhanga has come to an end.
A huge thank you to all of our whānau who travelled down to join us for our Pō Whakangahau last night. We loved having you there and sharing in the learning journey of our tamariki.
Over the past few days, our tamariki have immersed themselves in mau rākau, whakapapa, kī-o-rahi, tukutuku, and the many experiences that come with staying on the marae. It was a special opportunity for them to connect with te ao Māori, each other, and the whenua. In fact, many of them wished the noho was longer!
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our incredible kaiako of Te Moana Nui a Kiwa for all the planning, preparation, and hard mahi that went into making this noho such a success. These experiences create lifelong memories for our tamariki. ❤️
One thing we discovered during our noho is that your children are now professional cleaners 😂. They can wash dishes, scrub toilets, sweep floors, wipe tables, make beds, and help keep a marae looking beautiful. Feel free to put their new skills to work at home this weekend 😂.
P.S. Our tamariki thought going to bed at midnight was a brilliant idea… but don’t worry, we got them back 😂. They woke up this morning with a few surprise masterpieces on their faces courtesy of the Whiteboard Marker Fairies 😂.
Ngā mihi aroha e te whānau. Have a safe and restful weekend, and please take extra care with the wet weather upon us.
Mauri ora ❤️
