Matariki: Sharing Warmth, Kindness, and Aroha

Today our Pyjama Day donation mission came to life!
After collecting generous donations last Friday from our Fun N Play whānau, our tamariki and parent and kaiako representatives proudly represented us delivering winter clothes and items to Te Puea Memorial Marae.
As we celebrate Matariki, a time for reflection, connection, generosity, and caring for others, this special experience provided a meaningful way for our tamariki to contribute their help and giving thanks for life.

🌺 Celebrating Samoan Language Week 🌺

Throughout the week, the tamariki demonstrated curiosity, respect, and a willingness to engage with new experiences. They explored cultural artifacts, participated in singing and dancing, listened to stories and discussions, and developed an appreciation for the diversity that enriches our learning community.

Celebrating Samoan Language Week supports the tamariki to develop a sense of belonging and respect for the cultures of others. It also strengthens connections between home and centre, showing children that their languages, cultures, and identities are valued and celebrated.

World Oceans Day🐳🐋🐬🐙🦑🪼🦐🦞🦀🦭🐟🐠

We celebrated World Oceans Day while exploring our Matariki theme-Waitī and Waitā, the stars that are closely linked with water and ocean.
During mat time, tamariki learnt about different sea animals and the many things that can be found beneath the moana. We talked about ways to care for our oceans and proudly added our handprints to the “Small Hands, Big Difference” poster to show our commitment to protecting the environment.

Our tamariki started their morning with a special mat time, when we explored gagana Sāmoa (Samoan language) and learned about the beautiful culture, traditions, and values of Samoa.

We were very pleased to have Mummy Palepa (Chris’s mummy), who generously to share traditional kai and display a variety of special Samoan cultural items with our tamariki. Our children were fascinated as they put on these cultural items and learned about their significance. Palepa also taught us some traditional Samoan dance moves.

In the afternoon, we were also delighted to welcome Mummy Tapo (Princess’s mummy), who sang beautiful Samoan songs with us. Tamariki loved singing along, learning new words, and being immersed in dancing.

Fa’afetai tele lava to our parents for joining us to celebrate Samoan Language Week in such a meaningful and engaging way. ❤️

Little Princess's Tea Party

This week our kaikao talked about the origin of the upcoming King's Birthday.🫅👑 It might be a bit complicated for our young tamariki to understand the history🤔, but our kaikao made the activities in a fun way😄.
Our preschoolers had a lovely mat time brainstorming what King/Queen and their children (Prince/Princess) are doing in their normal days. We extended the topics to castles, palaces, when children linked their imaginations to Disneyland and fairy tale.
Later on our little princesses decided to start their tea party.
