At Gumboots Early Learning Centre, we believe childhood should be muddy, messy, adventurous, and full of wonder.
Our over 2s outdoor environment is a place where little feet leave sandy footprints, bikes race around the track, trees are climbed, gardens are tended, and creativity comes to life through messy play, carpentry, and splashing in puddles.
We are proud of our real country, rural, farm-life setting, where children are encouraged to be independent, capable, and connected to the natural world around them.
Because here at Gumboots, we're not afraid of muddy feet—we celebrate them. We're raising confident, curious, resilient little farm kids, one outdoor adventure at a time!

Gumboots: Where rural charm meets childhood wonder.
With nature as our playground, our outstanding kaiako (teachers) ignite curiosity and nurture young minds in our wide open playground set in the serene countryside between Waimauku and Helensville.
Mālō e lelei. Bula. Talofa. Aloha. Halo. 🌺🌴
The Big Boots Room at Gumboots Early Learning Centre has been on a very special journey around the Pacific Islands over the past month as we celebrated the different language weeks and the beautiful cultures that surround us. 🌊✨
We have travelled to Hawai’i, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa, exploring each place through art, music, stories, food, language, and meaningful learning experiences. The tamariki have embraced every opportunity to learn about the traditions, people, and unique treasures of each island.
A very special highlight of our journey was welcoming an Air New Zealand pilot into our room! She shared her experiences with us, showed us what a cockpit looks like, and introduced us to the different tools and equipment she uses in her mahi. We feel incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity and are so grateful for her time and for inspiring our tamariki.
Our Pacific journey has been full of curiosity, connection, and discovery — and now we are excited to continue our travels closer to home as we begin our Aotearoa New Zealand focus.

🌿 Join our Gumboots team 🌿
We are currently looking for a full-time, qualified and registered ECE teacher to join our Gumboots whānau on a fixed-term contract for approximately 9–10 months.
This fixed-term role is to support our centre as our much-loved Diane retires, and to fill the gap until one of our teachers in training graduates and becomes qualified. There may also be the opportunity for this role to become permanent.
We are looking for someone who is warm, reliable, passionate about early childhood education, and committed to building strong relationships with tamariki, whānau and our team.
We are also looking to grow our relievers pool and would love to hear from:
✨ Qualified teachers
✨ Unqualified teachers
✨ Teachers in training
Relieving is a great way to become part of our friendly Gumboots team, work alongside our tamariki, and support across different rooms when needed.

🍂 Autumn fun at Gumboots 🍂
Our tamariki have been busy exploring the magic of autumn — collecting, tossing, crunching and playing in the leaves.
These simple moments are full of rich learning. Through nature play, tamariki are using their senses, building confidence, developing coordination, sharing ideas and learning alongside their friends.
At Gumboots, we love creating space for tamariki to explore, wonder and follow their curiosity. The best learning often happens through joyful, messy, hands-on play.
He taonga te tamaiti — every child is a treasure. 🌿
Ngā mihi to our amazing kaiako for creating these beautiful everyday learning moments.
Growing, learning and exploring together every day 💙

As we come to the end of Mother’s Day, we hope all of our Gumboots mums, māmā, grandmothers, aunties, caregivers and special people have had a beautiful day being celebrated. 💐
Today is about celebrating the love, care, patience and warmth you give every day — often in a million little ways that can go unseen.
To all of the wonderful māmā in our Gumboots whānau, thank you for trusting us with your precious babies. It is such a privilege to be part of their days as they grow, learn, explore and shine.
We hope you have felt loved and appreciated today.
Ngā mihi me te aroha nui mō te Rā o Māmā.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Gumboots. 💙

And we love having them!
Yesterday, Anne and Rachel visited Gumboots Early Learning Centre and Parkview Preschool.
We read and sung a mixture of the books and songs below. Charlie the chick is one of our favourites!
