Alebrijes were originally made from wet paper as an extension of imagination, folklore, and mythical creatures or animals that lie around people in the Oaxaca region. 🐺🐍🦄
Naturally, they were fragile and didn't last long.
However, they evolved into a true art thanks to a more complex process that requires several months to create a single proper Alebrije.
7 different mythical animal figures are represented in our collection, personally signed by Master crafter: A. Montecino.
He has dedicated his life to create exceptionally detailed Alebrijes representing his heritage and passion.
