Week 2 of Brew & You and things got a little more serious…
This week we graduated from “What’s that part of the coffee machine called?” to “Wait… is this a latte or a flat white?” 😆
There was coffee poured, milk textured, latte art attempted (with varying levels of artistic success), and plenty of laughs along the way. Most importantly, everyone rolled up their sleeves, had a go, and discovered that making a great coffee might actually be within reach.
A huge thank you to Zee and Amy at Crimson Coast Cafe for making the session so welcoming, practical and fun. They have a knack for turning what looks complicated into something that feels excitingly doable.
And a big shout-out to our Brew & You budding baristas who jumped in, gave it a go, and weren’t afraid to practise, experiment and learn something new.
New skills, new connections, growing confidence, and lots of coffee… we’d call that a pretty successful Tuesday afternoon. ☕❤️.

Warning: Side effects of attending this workshop may include:
✔️ Understanding your stress responses
✔️ Realising you're not actually "failing at life"
✔️ Feeling a bit kinder to yourself
✔️ Having language for things you've been experiencing for years
No prescriptions required. Just two hours with Hattie and a room full of humans figuring life out together.
We have a couple of spaces still available. Come and see what happens. 💚

💜 Life doesn't come with a manual.
There isn't a guidebook for navigating every chapter life throws our way.
Parenting
Relationships
Work
Starting over
Most of us are figuring it out as we go.
Some days we feel confident and capable. Other days we're making it up one step at a time and hoping for the best.
If you're in one of those messier chapters right now, you're not alone.
Whatever chapter you're in, we're here.

Some weeks are about getting things done.
Some weeks are about learning something new.
Some weeks are about finding your people.
This week at the Women's Centre Rodney, you can learn a little Spanish, explore why stress affects us the way it does, make harakeke flowers, share a coffee with other mums, connect with other women, or simply drop in for a chat and a cuppa.
No pressure.
No expectations.
No need to have it all figured out.
Just opportunities to connect, learn, create, and spend time with good people.
Take a look at what's on this week and join us for whatever speaks to you.
Because sometimes the smallest step out the door can make the biggest difference.

The pests probably wouldn't have enjoyed today's workshop... but we certainly did! 😄
A huge thank you to Jill for sharing her knowledge, practical tips and passion for protecting our local wildlife via trapping. We left with a better understanding of trapping, pest control, and how small actions can make a big difference for our native birds.
🐦 More birdsong, fewer pests — sounds like a win-win to us.
Jill will be hosting another similar workshop next term so keep an eye out for this as it's a great way to become familiar with what steps we need to make to become pest-free!

It takes a village to support villages. Proud to be part of the SuperGrans SuperSkills whānau. 💚
Where would SuperGrans SuperSkills Network be without the commitment of our board members. The SGSS Network Board Members work behind the scenes and somehow get everything done while managing their already very busy lives!!
To Barney Cooper (Board Chair), Jo Nicholson (Board Secretary), Philippa Wright (Trustee), Mark Brown (Board Treasurer), Ann Conder (Trustee), Deidre Venter (Trustee). Thank you, we truely value your time and dedication to SuperGrans.
Carole Peterson is our National Director, a shoulder to lean on for the 13 agencies in the network. Thank you for the extra time you lend without a second thought, your continued leadership and support and for understanding just how much it means to be a part of something bigger than yourself.

Great fun joining the zoom and celebrating our collective volunteers and the awesome mahi they do
It is National Volunteer Week!! NVW held through 14-20th June 2026, honours the collective energies and efforts of volunteers across Aotearoa. It’s a time to recognise and thank the millions of people who give their time and skills to our communities. This year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer – Tōu tau ki te tūao has been chosen to mark the International Year of the Volunteer 2026.
Today we celebrated our volunteers within the SuperGrans SuperSkills Network with an online cuppa and chat. We heard stories from our volunteers and managers and this was a great way to take a moment and celebrate! Our 13 agencies throughout the country cherish their volunteers who all play vital roles. Last year the network supported over 15,000 people through our workshops and 1-1 support and our amazing volunteers gifted us over 16,000 hours of their time. So, a sincere and heartfelt thanks to the volunteers around Aotearoa you are simply the best!!!

We’re not saying Beth got her husband a job list on day one… but we’re not not saying it either. 😉
This week saw a rogue door handle reunited with its door and some very tired garden furniture finally heading into retirement.
A huge thank you to Nico from Gecko Maintenance for coming to the rescue and helping keep the Centre looking its best.
A huge thank you, Nico. We appreciate you more than our door handle can adequately express.

There was a lovely mix of new and familiar faces at Young Mums Group this week. It was wonderful to welcome another new mum along who is expecting her little one, and to see one of our newer mums return again this week.
There was plenty of chatting and getting to know one another, with new connections and friendships beginning to form. It’s been lovely to see the group continuing to grow and evolve 💖
Young Mums Group runs every Thursday from 10am–12pm for mums aged 18–24 who are pregnant or already have little ones.

Not every superhero wears a cape.
Some just put a trap in the right place and quietly save native birds. 🐦💚
Join us this Friday for Pest Free Conversations with Jill and discover how small actions can make a surprisingly big difference.
Practical tips. Friendly faces. Stronger communities.
No cape required.
