We know that starting school is a big milestone, and we're passionate about making that transition as positive as possible.
This week, we were delighted to welcome a new entrant teacher from Meadowbank School to visit our children who will soon be starting there. Building these relationships helps give children confidence as they take their next big step.
Through child-led learning, rich conversations, STEAM experiences and opportunities to build independence, we help children develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive at school.
Limited spaces now available – get in touch to book a visit, we'd love to show you around!

"Uplands has been a wonderful kindergarten for our four children. It has been amazing that the teachers have predominantly stayed the same, despite our eldest now being 13! Dedicated teachers, together with higher ratios, mean the children have high quality learning experiences because of their interaction with teachers and the effort put into planning a wide range of inquiry based learning opportunities. It is a small and warm community, with, in my opinion, less pressure for kids to "conform" to more rigid routines in larger groups as has been my observation of larger centres." – Shannon

They hatched!
Day 33 - Our tamariki were so excited to discover the butterflies had emerged from their chrysalises! It’s been wonderful watching the children’s curiosity grow throughout this whole process, with a lot of patience and scientific thinking along the way.
Well done Ray for accurately predicting it would take 33 days!

We're excited to launch the Uplands Book Club ✨
Stories are a big part of life at kindy, helping children build language, literacy, creativity and a love of learning.
Every month we'll be sharing the books that are capturing the imaginations of our tamariki, inspiring discussion, laughter, learning and plenty of requests for "just one more story."
Here’s this month's Uplands Book Club picks – happy reading!
• The Big Book of Bugs by is a beautifully illustrated, informative book that introduces children to bugs that creep, crawl, bite, and fly.
• Matariki by Sharon Holt sees the whanau wake at dawn to see the Matariki star cluster and visitors arrive for a traditional Matariki feast.
• The Fierce Little Woman and the Wicked Pirate by Joy Cowley Gecko Press is a tale of independence and family with a strong female lead and a pirate with a sensitive side.

Today our tamariki enjoyed a special trip to Four Square Remuera as part of our “Little Neighbours” program.
Buying ingredients to make pizza back at kindergarten, gives children the opportunity to build confidence, learn early maths concepts like counting money and practice social skills while connecting with our lovely neighbours in the community.
Nga mihi nui to Four Square Remuera for welcoming us and supporting our tamariki to learn through authentic experiences.

The anticipation of our butterflies hatching has sparked lots of creativity at Uplands.
As the children carefully observe the changes happening in the chrysalises, they’ve also been busy creating beautiful butterfly-inspired artwork throughout the kindy, bringing their curiosity, ideas and excitement to life through art.
