It’s been a whirlwind week of special activities for those International students who aren’t taking part in senior exams.

Activities have included:
• friendly sports competitions – table tennis, volleyball, and netball
• learning traditional Māori raranga (flax weaving) – making flowers and stars
• cooking up a traditional roast dinner – featuring New Zealand’s famous lamb – and, of course eating the delicious meal they’d cooked
• a day trip to nearby Devonport village and Maungauika North Head

A big shout out to two of our Business Studies Young Enterprise teams who had a successful day selling their products at the Smales Farm Markets this past Sunday!

It’s one thing to pitch a business idea in the classroom, but taking it out into the real world and dealing with actual customers is where the magic happens. We're proud of their hard work, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Huge congratulations to Onewa Voices for a beautiful performance at The Big Sing this week!

From the moving notes of Hine e Hine and Oku Ou Fie Ma’u Koe to the high energy of Stevie Wonder’s Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing, they absolutely shone. It was a wonderful day celebrating music with schools from across the region.

Young geographers at Tongariro National Park
Year 12 Geography students recently left their normal classroom behind and headed to the spectacular landscapes of Tongariro National Park!

Over three days and two nights, they were hard at work on the ground, collecting vital data and experiencing geographic processes firsthand. This practical fieldwork was a massive step toward completing two major NCEA Level 2 Achievement Standards – conducting guided geographic research, and natural landscapes.

A huge well done to all the students for their hard work, and a big thank you to the staff who made it happen.

SCIENCE IN THE WILD!
Our Year 12 Science students headed to the incredible Tiritiri Matangi Island sanctuary for some real-life science in the field.

After a scenic ferry ride across the Hauraki Gulf, they hit the trails to gather data and conduct scientific observations for their upcoming internal assessment.

The team was lucky enough to spot some of Aotearoa’s rarest treasures, including the takahē, tīeke (North Island saddleback), kakariki (red crowned parakeet), and hihi (stitchbird).

While some of the island’s more elusive residents—like the kōkako, tuatara, and the giant wētāpunga – kept a low profile, it was an unforgettable day of hands-on learning in one of New Zealand's most stunning conservation havens.

Massive congratulations to Robyn Opperman (seen at left) for bringing home a Silver Medal 🥈 in the Junior Girls 100m Backstroke, and a whopping 33-second PB in the 400m free and in the Auckland College Sports Swimming Champs!

GAME OF THE WEEK RESULT! 🏸🏆
The Senior Girls Badminton team absolutely smashed it, taking a dominant 5-1 win over Wentworth College! 💥

𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁!
A massive round of applause for Estatica – Ray Chai, Kento Woollerton, Hendrix Dickson, and Fynn Bischoff – who claimed 3rd place overall at the Smokefree Rockquest Regional Finals.

Competition was fierce with 12 top-tier acts competing for the entire North Shore, making this podium finish a huge win.

To add to the excitement, Ray Chai was honored with the Musicianship Award for his outstanding skill!

And a shoutout to Vandal, who also rocked the finals stage.
