Our Eco Warriors have been working hard this term!! Yesterday, the planted some native trees with the support of Mr Cooper and

Aotearoa NZ Schools’ Pride Week was another opportunity for us to show that we are inclusive and value the diversity at our school.

Our Student Council organised a week of optional break-time activities:
- Monday lunchtime was spent making friendship bracelets
- Tuesday got our heart rates pumping with a Just Dance session in the hall
- Wednesday was creative as we made zines
- Thursday’s Chalk the Courts was a huge hit and resulted in some beautiful art and messages
- Friday had us dancing along the “catwalk” in our rainbow accessories

It was an awesome week of fun and friendship!!

Year 8’s doing Construction Tech have been designing and making Taonga! Ātaahua!!

It was great having Westlake Boys and Westlake Girls visit us this week to tell us about their school. It was so cool seeing our NIS alumni as Head Students, Student Leaders and thriving high school kids! 🥰 Our Year 8s enjoyed hearing about some of the opportunities available to them at college.

We want to share the incredible achievements of our Year 7 student, Matatini (Mata).

Out of 4,000 riders worldwide, Mata is currently preparing to defend his World No. 1 title. He will proudly wear the New Zealand jersey and represent his country at the upcoming UCI BMX World Championships in Brisbane, Australia.

Mata’s recent form has been exceptional. He secured 1st place at the UCI Oceania BMX Championships and took 1st place at the 2026 Australian Nationals. Most recently, last week in Sydney, Mata dominated the Mighty 11s NZ vs. Australia event, winning every race to take 1st place overall.

Our Table Talk Topics are great to pose at the dinner table for the whole whānau to answer. They are also just as easy to slot in during a car ride, a walk, or at bedtime.

The Northshore Mathex competition was today. Congratulations to all 20 students who participated- they did really well. Special mentions: Lockie and Ruby who were recognised for displaying the NIS school values. Tino pai!

Part 2: Our fabulous Food Tech Extension students were given a challenge to plan a family meal for $5 per person inspired by VJ Cooks’ $20 dinners.

They had to meet all dietary needs. 🥗🍛🍲
Students calculated amounts needed, costed everything out and had to substitute if they were over budget. $$ 🍗

Mrs Meys ordered all of the food for their 4 different family meals and was quite lucky to taste them all. 👅

They were presented beautifully like professional chefs would at a restaurant 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳🍝

The verdict - Wow 😮 Amazing flavour. The brief was exceeded. 🌟
Ka Pai to you all 👍 Hopefully they will take this learning out into the world with them, and maybe even make dinner for their families this weekend 😉😀

Motutapu kids cooked up a storm of corn fritters in Food Tech yesterday! Not only that, they kept their work spaces tidy and did a fantastic job of rinsing and washing their dishes.
