Tuwing sasapit ang ika-12 ng Hunyo, nakasanayan na nating balikan ang kasaysayan. Ngunit ang totoo, ang kalayaang ipinaglaban ng ating mga bayani ay hindi isang regalong basta na lang natin itinatago—ito ay isang responsibilidad na kailangan nating panindigan araw-araw. Hindi natapos ang laban nang iwagayway ang watawat sa Cavite, nang matapos ang World War II, o nang mabawi ang demokrasya sa EDSA. Ang kasaysayan ay patuloy na isinusulat, at ang bawat henerasyon, kasama na tayo, ay may sariling labang kinakaharap.

Ngayong ika-128 Araw ng Kalayaan, ang tanong hindi na "sino ang makikipaglaban para sa atin" kundi "paano natin haharapin ang mga makabagong hamon ng ating bayan.".
